preliminary built with old parts to see if she actually fits... seems like it's gonna be a-ok, rides like a dream! what kind of front brakes are you cats running? i want a new one, but i don't know what to look for... |
get one of the cheap shimano 105 ones on nashbar right now...I think there like 11 dollars

qp, yeah they're major taylors. jayrooney: it's a tad on the small side, but i think the amount of rake on the fork would drive me insane if i'd gone a size up -- it's feels pretty far out now and i have toe overlap, fcs. |
Anybody find a source for green handlebar tape?
|
Cloth tape comes in green:

how do you guys like the fork
I just paid because I'm back at the homestead and I still can't decide whether to keep it or go carbon |
The fork is heavy, but the ride is actually quite nice. It depends on what kind of premium you put on weight.

a minor(to me) chip on the downtube but overall pretty ok condition it's getting there, all the parts should be here by next thurs. |
damn, i wish the front end was that tight. aesthetically, it bothers me how much space there is; i'm sure that will vanish once it's built up and ridden.
|
cool, cool
I don't think i'm allowed to be a weight weenie at 6'3" and 200 lbs. and I care more about comfort with this build |

Anyone who got their frame aligned - did the guy say how out of alignment the frame was? Apparently mine was waaaaay out, so much so that he aligned the entire frame for free (he also took awhile, so that was part of the price break).
|
so, how do these mark v's ride? trackish?

edit, is any one drilling holes in their BB shell for a proper drain? |
a full alignment should run around 60-80$. That doesn't included chasing the bottom bracket and facing though.
About 4th to 5th paragraph down ... http://www.patentstorm.us/patents/56...scription.html Basically they bend the frame into a common central axis.

About how much should it run to have a frame faced and chased?
|
what is frame alignment i never heard of this i have mine being faced and chased as we speak dont frames come laser cut and built right and what happens when aframe is unaligned thanks grin

^ You're allowed to use punctuation on the internet, you know. Shift makes letters upper-case, too!
I like the frames a lot, but the fork doesn't agree with me. The fact that it is straight-blade, but angled right at the steerer-tube, along with what looks like a unicrown design just looks cheap to me.. good builds, though you all! |

Budget build. Probably looks like a roadie built fixed gear :) . 59cm, IRO build kit, Vuelta XRP wheelset, 105 brakes, used Shimano aero levers, used Cannondale saddle, bottle cage, used Performance SPD/platform pedals. I wear size 13 and have a little toe overlap, not bad though. The wheelset seems reasonable for $99, a little heavy, lots of spokes, who knows about durability. I need to find some black cable guides for the rear brake cable.
