NJS approved equipment

Im looking at high quality track components and wondering what all is NJS approved ( other than dura ace ). Are my miche cranks I already have NJS? I'm just wondering what qualifies these products to be NJS approved. And what are some relatively priced NJS frames as my next bike will be a full NJS machine.

All NJS stuff is quality. Not all quality stuff is NJS. Miche cranks are definitely not NJS, but most folks would say that they are good cranks.

why? the original question is so completely stupid it has to be a troll. can't the OP google njs and do some background work before asking a ridiculous question? there is no magic wisdom to be gleaned by asking the stupid question. It isn't like asking about a crazy spoke lacing pattern...

If you're so stuck up and dont have anything to answer my question, then shut the **** up and dont reply cause your waste of space reply does no good here. Im sick of seeing people on forums not answer questions and then just spew bull**** out of there mouth maybe cause A) they can't answer the question or B) cause they're just *******s. So **** all of you with your internet lingo and remarks that do nothing than to build up your internet ego, your internet forum status doesnt impress anyone, it just shows how much time you waste on a computer.

calm down man. they're just having fun.

if you chill out and have some patience we'll help you out. you just have to ask a question and then wait for it to get answered, if you don't enjoy everyone's asshat comments then just wait them out, no reason to get angry. take a chill pill and stay a while. at least until someone comes along to answer your questions.

All NJS means is that the organization deemed it good enough to race with. that's it.

if you're not a troll, all you have to say is "i'm not a troll" simple as that.

Chill dude. That wikipedia article that I linked to (first reply) basically sums it up. In Japanese Keirin racing, there is a governing body (NJS) that determines what equipment is fit to use. The approved equipment is stamped "NJS".

So, if you are a Japanese Keirin racer, you would need to buy all NJS stuff. Otherwise, you can ride whatever you want, and if you buy NJS stuff, you can know that some Japanese Keirin racer is probably using the same stuff you are. Akin to playing basketball in Jordans.

Actually, more akin to walking around in Jordans. Or going to the bar in Jordans.

I'm not gonna go into the whole NJS diatribe on here. There's tons of good stuff out there. And like Aeroplane said, a lot of it isn't NJS certified. If you want to build up a full NJS bike, go for it. Just realize that you're gonna be spending a boatload more money and getting a bike that isn't necessarily a boatload better.

seriously, lay off the guy. I kinda' feel what he's saying. There are so many jack@ss 'holier than thou posts' on here, people tend to get caught up in their s**t. To some it may seem like a stupid question, but the guy is just looking for info. I mean c'mon, how many time have you posted a question and realized, I could have just googled that? Especially when you first started posting.

Besides, I have seen worse, and this doesn't not fall into that category. The guy who asked if he had to unlace his old hubs/rims to put on new rims... That qualifies as a stupid question.

well, can't use bikeforums search for the term "njs" so to google you'll have to go.

so to answer your question... Yes, you could do a complete NJS build, but I don't think you want to. The only reason (and Adam may fight me on this) is that NJS rims are tubular, and you probably don't want to run those on the street. But there are plenty of other options you could bust out.

With all the Keirin hype though, you are gonna have a hard time building an economical NJS bike. Plan on anywhere from $500 to $1200 (and even more) for the frame. You may have a hard time finding an NJS seatpost if your frame is older and 27.0. But stems, bars, hubs, BB, headsets, pedals, cranks, cogs, chainwheels are all readily available. Seats are all well, but they are hard as s**t, you may wanna go non NJS with this as well. Also plenty of good options there as well.

If you wanna a starter NJS frame, try this:

I'd hardly call that a starter frame, but it's a pretty decent deal for a custom.

^ starter in the NJS sense. Isn't that a complete? At least when you buy them in Japan it comes with 75's a wheel set and nitto stuff. Maybe Andrew only imports the frames, but I thought it said complete.

[edit] I take that back, just checked panasonics site and it's just frame, fork, HS and BB. Retail is also listed as less than $700. That's why I thought Andrew were complete, that's a pretty hefty markup.

It does say complete once on there, but it also says frameset about 300 times. Between that and the fact that there aren't any components mentioned aside from the headset makes me 99% sure that it's just the frame.

Your internet ego is awesome....

NJS is a stamp nothing more... its jsut a stamp the Keiren racers put on their stuff to make their egos look real big....

Its like the stamps we put on our envelopes.... except ours are like glue and stuff
