Stop looking at your bike and ride it. 1/8" non-threaded is better...way better.

im down for a cheap frame with good track geometry without ugly decals, that's cheap.

that's what i'm saying. be it a kilo tt (!!!), another IRO, a bareknuckle, a soma, a surly, or whatever, i'm saying we go for a blank frame/fork for a good price. has anyone tried to talk to bikes direct yet?

data 10-08-07 07:22 PM

if the frame is cheap, I see no reason for us or the builder to make it a group buy.
The purpose of us making a group buy is to make something slightly expensive into something affordable, not to make something cheap slightly cheaper.

dmg 10-08-07 07:34 PM

What would be really cool is to get something that's usually custom and US made into a group buy. For instance.... Villin in FL. If you can make a big order with standard sizes and are willing to wait a while for it to be made, the framebuilder can cut a bunch of frames at the same time and make them in less time than he would a custom, and he knows that he has a guaranteed customer for X number of frames. Builder gets security and consistency in return for slower turnaround, customers get frames for significantly less. Kinda like what was done with the Seagull "black bag" group buy.

Otherwise, you're talking about a 'bulk order', not a 'group buy'.

so is anyone making calls?

whatever bro... stop assuming you know who i am. the fugging stem is right in front of my face every day. how do you not look at it?

guess i'll have to break down and pay the steep price for a Nitto CT-80 one of these days. easily the best looking stem made for threadless. hey Nitto CT-80 group buy??

knucks 10-08-07 10:16 PM

Well I guess our best bet is Soma, possibly Surly?

What about the smaller, less known framebuilders?

I agree. It's sucks so much riding around looking at your stem all day. The worst is when you get doored because you're keeping your eyes on your ****ing stem.

BRANDUNE 10-08-07 10:50 PM

Stick one of these in your stem and fuhgettaboutit:

I'd be more interested in a component, or wheel buy. How many frames do you people need? Wouldn't a miche supertype seatpost buy be nice? Or a velocity or aerospoke buy?

No_Minkah 10-08-07 11:10 PM

What about Marinoni? They seem to do a lot of volume, they might be a good candidate.

pazzmore 10-08-07 11:37 PM

cheers!

MLPROJECT 10-08-07 11:43 PM

still got scammed on the last one!

tony finally emails me but has tons of excuses. what a politician.

shakeNbake 10-08-07 11:46 PM

I don't think there will be any Kilo TT groupbuy anytime soon.

There is no incentive for BD to do it. AFAIK, they are selling those bike pretty well.

yeah true. but it would be sweet to be able to get the f/f with no decals and in green. but it's worth trying right?

if no one is calling yet, i'll give it a shot. i'm sure someone more well known in the community would have better luck, but i'll still give it a try and see what comes!

acoldspoon 10-09-07 01:40 AM

I'd be into a GB for lugged or filet butted steel made in America, England, Italy, or Japan. A bike with soul. Otherwise, not so much.

bonechilling 10-09-07 07:11 AM

The thing about trying to organize a Kilo TT group buy is that these are going to be available as stand-along frames, in a variety of sizes and colors, without any stickers or logos, in February, and for LESS than the IRO GB cost.

I think you guys should just hold into your wallets and buy the TT when they're available.

dijos 10-09-07 07:59 AM

ok, so a different frame, or components.
I could use a better wheelset.

freeskihp 10-09-07 09:06 AM

**** this, I need roadie components

viper_04649 10-09-07 11:39 AM

lets do a Sugino 75 GB...BFSSFGS75GB we could call it. and have them anodized with blood so they have more street cred.

i like the idea of crowned/brazed frame!

pretty, but i like the ease of pop top stems.

exfreewheeler 10-09-07 08:17 PM

Forum Cycles, LLC.

EAI, would have to give a wholesale price. If they chose to do business with said company.
