also, i drank my first 40 last night. does that officially make me bike trash?

to answer your first question:

I was riding down Harrison towards Marshall... I saw a minivan stopped at a stop sign to my left so I proceeded to throw a right-hand turn signal. I began to make the turn and noticed the minivan had completely disregarded my signal and had nailed the gas through the intersection. I had parked cars to my right and the van quickly closing in on my left... I had just finished making the turn when the van had come up beside me. My front tire rubbed the front right tire, instantly stopped and was sucked underneath being instantly taco'ed. My left side glanced off the fender and I flipped head face first towards the asphalt. I slid mostly on my face, resulting in the damages listed a few posts up. It makes me sick thinking about it...

And to answer your second question, no... it just makes you a cheap.

Hey man, really sorry to hear about the accident. I feel bad about not getting up with you for a ride yet either. Let me know when you're ready to ride again and we'll go for it.

Straws 02-02-08 09:14 PM

damn man. glad to hear you're mostly alright. Your front wheel is obviously thrashed but hows the rest of the bike? If you need a 700c front I have one laying around. it's an alex rim but whatever.

Man that intersection sucks!

I ride through it every day on the way to work or school, though heading east on Marshall, and I never fail to STOP there. At first I didn't, but after almost being killed there several times, I now do. The visibility is piss-poor there as well.

Glad to hear you're going to be OK.

Oh, and were you wearing a helmet, and if not has this influenced your decision?

-Rob.

thanks for the wishes.. yes the front wheel is hilariously taco'ed out. Id take you up on that offer but home-dude's insurance should be paying for all my repairs. I didnt have the time to check and see if my fork had twisted, ill leave that to bunnyhop since I have no real tools @ my apartment.

Yes, ive almost been hit there multiple times. Im going to avoid it if possible from now on. Please stay safe when youre in that area!

I was not wearing a helmet... In my case It wouldnt have helped me really, but thats not to say I couldnt have hit my head in another case/manner. I am seriously looking for a 'cool' helmet and will religiously tell people to wear them. I never thought helmets were dorky, I was just too lazy to wear one. I like the Giro ones...

I think the fork is twisted, and your front brake is ****ed too, right?

And for the record, any helmet that keeps you out of the vegetable soup is cool.

Yes.

And not vegan, love barbeque.

Warm weather? Hell no! I want some snow to ride in! Last night I went over to Banditos when I got off work and laid down a long skid in the snow because it might be the only time I get to ride in it this year

piratelove 02-03-08 10:39 AM

I'm sure as soon as we get 2ft of snow I'll be complaining.. but it hasn't snowed here in two years!

Sunday night could be fun.

It's supposed to be pretty nice out today, and even nicer tomorrow, I'm dissapointed I'm working.

zsno 02-04-08 10:30 AM

Yeah today is quite nice. I only have one class, and after that I'm riding.
