Can we get more pictures of that fork?

It's the Bontrager Satellite Elite. It's the same fork as on the LeMond Poprad Disc and Trek Portland. If you have specific shots you want let me know and I can take them when I have something better than a camera phone on me.

Oh neat. From the picture it looked like it has larger clearance than 32 though. I am looking for a cross fork with disc tabs that has clearance for 35s.

The Bontrager site says "Clearance for fender and 32c tire" I have 700x35 on now with plenty of room (probably even for full fenders). Nokian lists the 700x35 W106 as 37-622 on the sidewall.

JensonUSA has the 700c CroMoly Dimension Fork @ 1 1/8" for $65. It has disc tabs but no canti mounts.

I've been cruising this forum awhile. So I thought I'd post my conversion. It's for bar runs and what not. Laters.

solid conversion, but sorry, all that's going through my head right now is "the best ever death metal band out of denton"...

but the bike. might want to adjust the saddle angle a little, it looks like it could be painful in the long run.

resin heaven 12-19-07 03:42 PM

hahahaha, i totally forgot about that song.

and yeah, ive been meaning change the angle on the saddle but i lost my allen keys. i bought some more yesterday, though, so no biggie.

The winter bike that I just finished piecing together. I'm really excited to start riding it because this is my 1st full conversion road bike to fixie conversion. Put the granny gear on there to keep me warm and get better with spinning. Just need to find a long enough brake. edit: just found out I had a front fender and a brake that is big enough for it. just need to get a brake lever and I'm done ;)

Tektro makes an extra long reach brake that ought to do it (but measure first). Does the frame take a nutted or recessed brake bolt?

EDIT: and that bike is screaming for full fender.

jim-bob 12-19-07 05:12 PM

Gyeswho - the trick I used when doing pretty much the same thing you're doing was to find an old BMX sidepull brake, those things have crazy reach.

but will the full fenders work with that kind of brake?

xiamsammyx 12-19-07 05:25 PM

the tektro youre thinking of is the b566 and its sold out EVERYWHERE i've been trying to find one for a while, the earliest prediction i've gotten is about 3 months for most places.

trons 12-19-07 06:45 PM

should get some full fenders + rear brake for that thing.

Totally not SS/FG, but if I were building it up for myself (and were a LOT smaller) I would have to convert it for sure...

I think I'm in love with tubulars.

oh btw I built this for my girlfriend's dad for christmas.

barba 12-19-07 06:58 PM

That is a very nice bike, making it a conversion would be a pity. Your girlfriend's dad is a lucky guy.

What's that bar tape?

KillerStephen 12-19-07 07:37 PM

Why have clipless pedals on a bike for bar runs?

I did laugh though.

I agree that converting this to fixed would be a shame. It's beautiful as it is.

This thread is for photos of fixed gear and singlespeed bikes. Please keep to the topic.
