Put a nice bike with a nice girl and I'm fumbling for words. :P

That's a really cool pic though, overall. Very interesting bike setup. Stock gearing?

i know its a total fkn vanity shot but it's the only decent pic i have.

for all those curious as to what the mutant spawn of a bmx and a pista might look like, here's an early photo when i first got my 43cm fuji track se (2002 model) with 650 wheels. i stand 5 feet tall so this was the only stock complete i could find in my size.

Is that queens?

So, oh yeah? Well, here's me on my bike!

(Except for it's a wierd angle so my face looks fat, it's windy so my hair looks stupid, and I promise I do have eyebrows! Also, a bunch of stuff has been added to my bike like a chainguard, one streamer, and a basket.)

Here's a better one:

pitboss 10-19-04 07:22 PM

both pics are sweet crusier love...nice basket too!
I think my next project will be a flat-bar track

cicadashell 10-19-04 07:29 PM

i think i like the stripped-down look better, but i'm not using the bike for transportation. my commuter is looking ugly these days, but it does make me feel so free, so free.

so (i gotta ask) where was this picture taken? the one in the river...

schwinnbikelove 10-19-04 07:34 PM

Thanks 165. Man, it's heavy, but the chainguard and basket make it sooo practical for running to the thrift store, carry-out, etc.

Picture was taken here in the Maumee River in Grand Rapids, Ohio. Beautiful place!

pitboss 10-19-04 07:36 PM

SBL-
didn'tcha have another bike or 2?

schwinnbikelove 10-19-04 07:54 PM

Yeah, I've still got my fixed gear, and banana seat bike. The cruiser is the first one I've been happy enough with to leave how it is. My FG used to be coaster brake, now is about to undergo a frame swap...and probably get flopped to single more often.

Now, after making a wierd ass post in the mess. bag thread, falling on my bike earlier and sliding across the rainy, oily road, getting hit on by a prostitute, and posting a picture of myself here because another girl did, I'm going to make myself a microwave chicken patty on a stale bun.

Thank you very much for your time.

turd 10-19-04 08:07 PM

bostontrevor : indeed, the pic was taken in the wb, bk.. roundabout s1st and kent? i can't remember...

ryanc : came geared as 48x16 and i switched out the back cog so it's now a 48x18. also put on shorter cranks which helps my midgety self a ton.

since that photo was taken, i now have vintage campy pedals & clips (thanks, dwylie75!) with white leather straps. trying to find 36 bullhorns (impossible! grrr...) , but in the meantime threw on a narrow set of straight bars instead of the drops.

and i'm still alive!! cars shmars.

Mmm...better than stale chicken on the prostitute's buns. Things can be good, depending on perspective. Be glad you have the bikes!

SBL : i, too, still have my "three-speed" ross banana seater with a flowered vinyl seat (which burns so nicely in the summer heat) but i feel like a clown riding that thing now...

That's half the fun of it!

bostontrevor 10-19-04 10:15 PM

That's funny, I've been to wburg like exactly twice... Once revolved around getting seriously drunk at the Brooklyn Brewery tour (it involved getting the order wrong and going throught twice, a wife who doesn't like beer, and a bartender who didn't know how the tickets were supposed to count)...ah, memories...

"Anyone else notice the on coming car? Heheheehe."

DL. the car just missed her but crashed into a pole trying to get a look at her backside. it was ugly.

dwylie75 10-19-04 10:40 PM

here is mine. it is in another thread

Thanks! Actually, just add the chainguard and it's as colorful in the other picture, too. (I'm just covering up all the fun stuff with my own body parts...)

i figured it was the maumee, but i didn't recognize it as a location in toledo proper, noting for example the free-flowing nature of the stream (not controlled by downstream, bay level). yes, a nice location! i should ride my bike somewhere pretty, and take its picture...

i have the same model/year (49cm). i put bull horns on it with one brake. pretty gutsy to go brakeless. i dig the bike so much i hardly ever ride my geared bike.
