Its lookin' good, but what is the purpose of your tape design? I am not bashing it, its just escaping me at the late late moment that it is. Is it simulating the different color layers on actual bull's horns?

You should be able to remove the inner chainring without affecting the one you are using at all. As far as the big one goes, you could just grind the teeth off and use it as a bash/chain guard or get some shorter bolts. Mainly just for aesthetic purposes, however.

Funny, I had kind of wondered about your avatar pic...I thought it was a girl who had her boyfriend's picture up there. The reference to your bike as a "him" threw me though. -Click profile. Ah.- Anyway all is clear now. Again, no offense to be taken in those comments whatsoever.

Keep riding that, uh, guy! And give us another pic when you have it all finished.

No, I had some tan cork left over and wanted to use it, cut it in half and that's all I have enough to cover. Thought it looked cool so I kept going. I want to do something similar when I get the celeste tape.

Yes, that's exactly what i was going to do. Remove the inner and grind down the outer. But, that'll be later on when I'm sure I'm even going to keep them. They serve their purpose for now.

hehehe. I did that on purpose to see if anyone would notice. Gotta keep the breeders on their toes! :D Kidding!

Will do. But really, are they ever finished? :)

Re. Nolageek aka dramaqueen.
I have only visited here for a couple of weeks, but the first time I saw his (your) avatar, I understood.
But then my wife's sister looks a lot like him (you). She only rides motorbikes though.
There definately is a middle ground.
Freedom to be what you are is great.

nolageek 10-08-04 08:29 PM

icithecat: Are you saying I look like a chick, a drag queen, or a transexual? Since none are true, I'm not sure how to take that.

Me thinks I need to switch my avatar. :D

Vincent

icithecat 10-08-04 09:09 PM

None of the above. My sister in law knows where she is in this life and is comfortable with everything.
If you are not comfortable in this life, maybe you do need change

Watch that deleltet button.

nolageek 10-08-04 09:15 PM

Huh? What are you talking about? You do realise that I am a gay male and that being told that I look like you're wife's sister isn't exactly flattering.

Back to bikes. Does anyone know any details about the Bianchi Selvio?

icithecat 10-08-04 09:37 PM

No insult intendend

I am currently listening to the 'The Arrow' out of London. And you?

SSenorPedro 10-08-04 11:25 PM

What the...? I have no clue what the heck this last piece of conversation is refering to. It appears to be entirely incoherent. I apologize, NolaGeek, if this a result of my earlier comment.

I could care less what team you are batting for, you're riding a bike and that makes the world a better place.

Lets please not flame on people whom you don't necessarily agree with. This is bikeforums.net, where we talk about all things velo. Lets keep it that way.

-Pete

P.S. The new Av is definitely more flattering than the previous one.

nolageek 10-09-04 12:21 AM

No flaming at all (no pun intended.) I have no idea what we were talking about, honestly. I just didn't understand why I was being told I looked like someone's wifes sister. :0 Personally, i want to talk more about my bike. :) I know there is a Bianchi cult out there that knows something about the Selvio model. I was trying to get a date on it, but the Bianchiusa forums are down.

HA! My buddy has a picture of me riding that cow with all my Freeride gear on! Good stuff. Photogenic cow.

icithecat 10-09-04 07:30 PM

Nevermind.
I will never dig myself out of this. My sister in law is also gay and has the adrogenous look.
There are certain polar oposites (as indicated by the photo of one tin sloth). And then there are are the rest of us in between.

Very nice. I love that light grey on dark grey look! Mine's like that too.

On a completely unrelated note: whats the best way to remove the bike store's label? This one is a very stiff label, almost like plastic and it's cracking when I try to remove it. Should I be afraid it's going to remove paint as well? Is there anything product's I can soak it in to remove it?

Store sticker.... thats easy, just cover it with electrical tape.... viola!

Thats how I got my VCR to stop blinking and when I had a car, its how I kept from seeing the "check engine" light on all the time. works wonders. If you want to get fancy.... use blue painters tape. My fixie is half covered right now in blue painters tape and it gives it more of a personal touch.... well, thats only because I have not had a chance to repaint it. bahhhh.

nolageek 10-10-04 12:23 AM

Hmmm. Not exactly what I had in mind, but I'll keep that in mind as an option! hehehe

icithecat 10-10-04 12:56 AM

To remove labels or stickers, a hair dryer. Warm them up and they peel right off. The residual glue comes off with an erasor or with nail polish remover.

Shiznaz 10-10-04 08:44 AM

I would not reccomend putting nail polish remover (acetone) onto your paint job to get off sticker residue. It will probably take off more than you want.

icithecat 10-10-04 04:18 PM

Well. If the paint job is tremclad which only has three Cs in it's base then acetone might remove it. Most bikes are painted with a laquer base which has more Cs in it's base so Acetone will not hurt it once it is dried. We do not want to get into an argument over carbon chemistry do we?
It has been years since I studied that topic.
WD40 also removes stickers and is generally used by home handymen, so try that.

emayex 10-10-04 06:12 PM

wd40 rocks my socks

Erich Zann 10-10-04 07:08 PM

Here's two fixed gear bikes that I own. The first is a Harry Quinn track bike. I think it is early 70's perhaps? The fork crown is identical to the fork crown on my 1950 Flying Scot track bike. Also the head tube ligs are identical to those I saw on a Viking track bike, but this is not surprising since Harry Quinn served as a designer for Viking. The other bike is a converted Holdsworth. I think this is a mistral from the late 60s or early 70s, although I am not sure on that either. As you can see I am a fan of Nitto moustache bars. I think they offer great riding positions for fixed gear riding. (i took down photos, because my builds were lame, they are way better now)

think5577 10-12-04 07:14 AM

Hey Erich, where did you get those small fenders on your Holdsworth? Simple yet functional.

Those fenders are pretty much for show only. They really suck at their job.

they only guard brakes and a bit of frame if anything.
pretty useless, functionwise.

think5577 10-12-04 10:27 AM

Well that sucks!
