OK here's the new build, just finished today - had been waiting for a seatpost. An interesting change from my old Schwinn, which some of you Chicago guys have seen. Handling that thing was like driving an old Lincoln - I forgot how nice and twitchy this bike is in comparison. Still getting used to it. I included the obligatory "drivetrain" pic even though its nothing special - just thought it looked kind of cool.
42T Sugino, 15T DA, Suzue rear Sunshine front, Kalloy post, Lookin (Selle Royal) saddle, MKS quills Christophe clips (LBS - $8!), the rest is stock Fuji. This is mostly stuff I already had, just needed a saddle and post to complete everything. Removing the old post was quite the adventure - had to compress the post in a vice, then twist the whole frame to get the torque to get it moving - still took a while to get it out! Riding drops after a couple months on homemade bullhorns is strange to say the least. Might have to get some horns for this one. Future plans: considering going brakeless once I get a rear hub that can handle it, maybe pick up a good 700c wheelset and get out of my 27" rut. |
looks great Ryan!
|
second that. all you need to do is edit that decal on the chainstay and you'll be in like flint.
ah, the welded seatpost. i permanently scarred the post on my white bike (depicted elsewhere) doing the vise-and-torque trick. a matching replacement suntour superbe pro went for 85 bucks on ebay the other day, but that is just too damn much money. |
Will you be riding that on Sunday? Nice.

Here's my Sannino. Oria Cromo Frame, Campy record hubs (high front, low rear) on Nisi (front) and Fir (back) rims. Miche track pedals, Miche cranks. Look ergostem, old 3ttt 38cm bars. |
Wow Bikkhu, that is simply beautiful. Love the white panels and, and, and.....
Congrats. |
yeah, that is swinging T

Sweet bike Bikku - that's not what you were messengering on, right? Doesn't seem like that would be something you'd want to ride every day...

Uh, yeah, I knew that. That's why I put the messengering in the past tense...
|
Sweet stem...

yeah, nice ride, bikkhu. is there a method to the non-matching wheels, or is it simply madness?
|
Thanks, guys. Yeah, I am DISPATCHER, hell yah :)
I now push a 50-16 as not in so much of a hurry. This is my good weather commie fixie. With tubulars :) |

Here's my little green fixie. Better photos coming one of these days... 88 Bianchi Strada LX, repainted "safety green"...found it in the trash. Sugino VP cranks, 44x15 fixed, but currently running 44x16 free-- I scrounged up a 16t freewheel 'cause my 15t fixed cog wasn't jiving, tension-wise. Anyone wanna trade a Dura-Ace 15t cog for a 16t one? Can't afford a new one at the moment. Also got Suzue Basics w/ DV15s. Crank Bros. Mallets for now. 23c All-condition Armadillos, which I love. |

Here's my new baby. It's not the greatest picture, but I'm too excited to not scream from the mountain tops. Ok, so that's a little dramatic.
I've been riding him for three days now and boy are my calves burning! :) I have the front brake mounted, but I need to find a lever that can clamp on because I don't want to ruin my tape job. (I forgot to mount the lever beforehand.) Is my life worth ruining a fabulous tape job? NO! :) Running at 36x16 for now and liking it. I was afraid I'd be spinning a lot, but I've been taking it easy cause I'm a newbie with no brakes. :) Frame: 56cm Bianchi Stelvio (anyone know anything about this model?) Bars: 42cm Tsunami Toro from Chucksbikes.com (love 'em!) Tape: white tape from chucks, tan civelli Cranks: SunTour XC arms, PoweRing chainrings (triple for now) 3/32" Rear: Van Dessel Sports Flip Flop Wheel Cog: Surly 16t 1/8" Front: Maillard 500 with Matrix Trans (?) rim Tires: Specialized All Condition 700x23 Stem & Seatpost: 3ttt Chain: KMC BMX Chain. 1/8" |
