I've actually met 2 other Fuji converted fixed riders who did the same thing. What are the odds? |

Well, the bike is kind of an exercise is in "it's so wrong...it's right." Plus...it's riden in Seattle.
|
yeah dude, rain never falls on rich people
|
...not only is it "riden" in Seattle, it is occassionally "ridden" in Seattle.
|
I assure you, I am not rich, simply someone with with a "questionable priorities" (to quote my former-wife). :fight:

This bike was just given to me by a friend. It is a true track bike not a conversion.

Cross posted on the commuter forum, this is what this bike is mostly used for, although it will do the odd century and charity ride.
Frame and fork are columbus SLX from early 80's with most derailleur mounts now ground off. I recovered the bike sans front wheel from a dumpster. I powdercoated the frame matt black. I run a 45x17 fixed gear (15 for group rides), the cranks, seatpost, headset and front brake are all original campy parts. I added the Nitto moustache bar and stem and wheelset with Armadillo 25C tires and thornproof tubes. I am considering adding a brooks saddle to complete the "look". I have enjoyed commuting on this bike for the last two years, so much so, that I am considering going fixed gear for off road as well. |

Not my bike, and it isn't new, but I like how this shot came out, so I thought I'd share it.

Here are my two: One fast, fixed Fuji, meant for longer rides and getting to work and such; one slow, stylish Specialized, my coaster brake cargo machine for grocery store duty.
The Fuji is about 60 cm, probably from the 80s, was once a 12-speed, now goes 42-15 with 700x35s for the potholey Boston streets, slightly chopped moustache bars for multiple hand positions, and a MTB-style front brake for when I'm wearing dress shoes that don't fit snugly in the toe clips. The Specialized is maybe 17", features a unique and durable electrical tape coating, 44x19 cruiserrific drivetrain, special two-part seatpost (BMX gooseneck inside a standard MTB post), and the mighty milk crate, which has been known to carry a week's worth of groceries. Also, a generator light and a bell. |
