the monostay was the main reason i got it custom. also why i had to go deda in the rear, despite wanting full columbus - deda is the only to make a track monostay (supposedly? that's where i left the work to the builder, Chris Bull. circleacycles.com)! it's only almost ALWAYS the first thing people notice - except for the chub now (which i'm getting rid of.. check the chub thread for my thoughts on that ****** thing).

AND PETE! you are completely correct about the bars... not only am i an east coaster, but i developed the knack for the bars while living in richmond, va (which is why the east coasters even designate that as "richmond style"). Though i fully *cough*deny that theory, and attribute it more to my background in mountain biking...*cough*. i swear. but pete, that's just distortion in the picture or the fact that it's lying on the ground. however, beefy is correct. after running through numerous bottom brackets on my old fixie - i didn't take chances with the circle a and went downhill with full race face components - even then, my bearings in my race face bb after just over a year.. ARE SHOT! what in the hell? but that's better than going through 3 shimano un-52s in a year. again, see the chub thread for why you should NOT get one.

You like monostays eh....

My buddy, www.ahearnecycles.com, here in Portland. Beautiful work.

NO WAY! my friend just mentioned to me the other day that "some guy" had built a flask holder... i'm SURE he was talking about your dude.

EVEN THEN, that monostay is hot... i was noting earlier how the On-One monostays are really dorky, and not very svelte... however, your dudes, takes their style and really puts a fling to it. super beautiful. i like his style.

you can add me to the EC/bar list to back up your theory :D

Shiznaz 11-10-04 12:57 PM

Same here. Flat bars in the east (well, sort of east... Toronto... does east count for Canada?)

lucklust 11-10-04 01:00 PM

Riding drops makes you a better lover.

Shiznaz 11-10-04 01:43 PM

I ride drops on my nice bike. I'm barsexual.

bostontrevor 11-10-04 01:44 PM

I ride bullhorns and drops. Only go with flats (well risers actually) on my mtb and wish I had a set of drop bars there, frankly. I just don't feel like I have the same climbing power.

auk 11-10-04 06:55 PM

Now you've gone and done it. You make us hate you from the get go. :) Those are absolutely beautiful bikes. Stunningly beautiful in fact. I can see the worst decision of each morning is which to ride. That Cinelli just gives me goosebumps.

schwinnbikelove 11-10-04 07:43 PM

bridge- It's so great to see something so different. You bike is about the coolest fixed I've EVER seen! (and I am always looking). I admire your bike-building style, and your budget!

Awesome!

Yeah, that'd be him. We just got a stainless version worked out and getting ready to hit production. It is pretty swank.

bridge 11-10-04 07:52 PM

Gotta show of my other bike - Its a Azonic Steelhead Frame with Shimano XT hydraulic disc brakes. I use the Paul Melvin Chain Tensioner with a Holzfeller Crankset 44 tooth and a spot brand 15 tooth cog. Selle Italia Flight Elite saddle with a Thompson Seatpost. Holzfeller Stem and Race Face Bars with a Mazrochi Suspension Fork. Brooklyn Machine Works Shin Burger Pedals.

Robbykills 11-10-04 10:38 PM

Not as fancy or expensive as some of the other fixies but I love it.

1982 Schwinn World Sport I got from my boss.
Sugino Cranks (42t), Surly Hub (16t Dura Ace), Specialized Armadillo Tires, Tsunami el toro bars.

Had a Ti-Kevlar seat I bought for $5. Doesn't have the same seat anymore as the seat nearly murdered my taint. It has my favorite seat now. One I took off a cheap thrift store 60s Peugeot UO-8. Also no longer has the little brake cable stop.

Here's my singlespeed. It's a Diamondback Outlook I got when I was 10. Probably a 1995 model. I'm waiting for a new EBay'd crankset to arrive but right now it has 42:18 gearing. Team A rear wheel with Quando hub and a cassette converted with spacers I made out of PVC Pipe.

this is an older picture. and since then i have upgraded many parts.
i'll list whats on it now instead of whats on it in the picture:

De Bernardi 2003 thron track frame and fork size 47cm
sugino cranks and sugino 46 tooth chain ring
durace 14tooth cog for the rare track race and 16tooth cog for town
selle italia lady gel saddle
100mm nitto drop stem
39cm shallow drop nitto track bars
i recently traded my suntour sprint hubs on araya red tubular rims for philwood high flange back hub on fir clencher rims, but until i re-space the philwood back to 120 spacing im currently riding on basic suzue hubs on mavics

i dont think ive left anything out, sorry if the grammar and spelling is off. im the laziest ever.

Ahhhh... Look at that! My bike's little cousin!

Dude, I want one!

lucklust 11-10-04 11:27 PM

How early in the morning did you have to get up to take that pic? You need a (night) life!

bostontrevor 11-10-04 11:32 PM

Robbykills, that Schwinn is pretty nasty looking. Is it the angle or does it have a slopping top tube?

bridge 11-10-04 11:36 PM

dude... that picture is at dusk!

lucklust 11-11-04 12:02 AM

Really? The light looks so clear and so bright. Like one of those mornings that makes your nose cold, but you know is going to end up as a beautiful day.

bridge 11-11-04 12:04 AM

yeah bro.. more pics of a typical virginian late october!
http://fixie.circlethata.org/race%20results.htm

Or one of those coldish mornings that you know is going to end up as an absolutely cold-ass bastard. Not that I'm bitter.

Tomorrow's supposed to be almost warm though. Hopefully I'll take advantage of it.

lucklust 11-11-04 12:07 AM

Yeah, it's gonna be wicked cold tomorrow. Gonna dip into the 60's. :p
