If you find one PM me please! I have a 650 wheel ready for lacing and can't find a fork for it (without spending over $100). I have the same chrome one on your ex's khs-I wish they made those in 650's.

Bianchi Talledega-bought for the fork and kept for the colour and weight-NOS maxy crank and old freewheel rear wheel running a low 45/18. Needs an odd number on the cog or sprocket or tension does
not work for the chain-will get a white eno hub as soon as I can afford. No pedals as I take them off to
stall joyrides from son. (leave pedals on the Nishiki and the Peugeot SS)

Race Face bars from an old GT MTB which will be replaced by homecut bullhorns (found the pipe cutter),
Suntour Superbe front brake with cheap MTB lever. A work in progress.

Cannondale 3.0 with Phil Woods and tubulars...light! Dropout spacing didn't work with new generation of freehubs. Was going to re-build the wheels as clinchers, but what the hey! Small Cannondales have always been problematic with the downtube waterbottle boss location...you can't put in a big bottle. Used two 1/8" spacers at the BMX freewheel and the chainline looks pretty good. 39/16 is acceptable for rides around southern Marin.

Now if I only had a SS mtb.....

I can't seem to find the old thread so I will just post this here.

Finally, they posted pictures of my new acquisition. A Fanini grouppo custom made track frame, made in mid 80's, not 90's as I suspected before:

Thanks Dave!

samba rock - that is a sweet ride. I really dig the headbadge.

auk 10-31-04 03:44 PM

Wow. The little details take that bike from being great to hotter than a bic pen through a U-lock. Specifically the shore line on the head tube to down tube lug. Love it. Congrats on a mighty, mighty fine ride.

samba rock 10-31-04 04:01 PM

Thanks,
funny thing is my dad found this bike in Brazil for $80... life is great sometimes.

I need a new stem/bar set for this ride.

HereNT 10-31-04 04:16 PM

80$? And the only thing you need is a new stem/bar?

Freaking MotherFu*king Lucky B*stard.

Look, I made a bike!

Gory details: 19?0s lugged Univega frame made of unknown tubing. Shimano 600 165mm cranks. Formula hubs with Alex rims by bensbike. Armadillo tires. 42/15 gearing.

I did everything myself except for the headset (which came with the frame) and the wheels. It was less difficult than I thought - I got lucky with the chainline. This was supposed to be winter/rain/beater bike, but now I dont want to abuse it =/

Sorry for the mediocre pic. My camera, nor my photo skills are so good. More pics here

skitbraviking : the bob jackson is a custom. he got it built thru world class cycles, i believe...

sambarock : oooh, it's the "FANCY-NI!" hahaha..

merztime : one of the nicer conversions i've seen. and hey, we have matching straight bars, too :D

wasted weasel 11-03-04 08:39 PM

merztime... what brand of hubs are those?

merztime, looking good. I understand your hesitation to abuse it too much. On the other hand, that thing looks badass. It *wants* to be abused. Tear it up.

that bike is so hawt it makes me want to punch you.
there is a pink seven in the streets of chicago. i have seen it twice...and it was glorious.
I still want to punch you for your beautiful bike.

auk 11-03-04 10:23 PM

Oh why do you abuse, why? There is just something about that color. And I am just such a sucker for a Wound Up, and have been since they fisrt came out. Got two of em and love em to death.

Hopefully you will get that position dialed in soon. How's it coming?

auk 11-03-04 10:25 PM

Okay [165], it's settled. We'll both give him a good shot. See, bikes do cause violence, just like the t.v. seeez.

i'm still messing with it. i put the track drops back on a couple of days ago, and i'm doing my best to get used to them - i think they look cooler, but something's not exactly quite right just yet. one day, when i'm worried that i'm just not quite spending waaaay too much $$$ on bikes, i'll get a seven or something equally sexy customized for my fit. until then, i'll suffer on... :D

why must you resort to weapon-based violence? organic violence is much nicer...like the color of your bike. that's nice.
