Because that's not OG Keirin style do0d.

oldbreadbutt - that top pic is one of my faves from fgg. handsome.

Specs are in the "lets build a keirin bike" thread.
Columbus tubing + NJS builder + njs parts = a really fun bike

Thanks, don't worry, my bikes get ridden. Mouton and TNCLR both had their really nice keirin bikes out on the ride yesterday as well.

The Oury grips are nice and soft for where my hands spend most of their time, nothing gives the same grip as the Soyos in the curves, and the black tape on the drops is a good compromise between grip and padding. Personal preferance really...

Another picture I forgot to post last night:

One of our customers sent photos of a bike that he built for his mom.

I wonder when she'll switch to fixed?

Awesome bike. Looks like it really performs too.

I'm assuming this "twisted spoke lacing" is supposed to emmulate "tie and solder"? Except tie and soldering doesn't do anything, right?

It does look cool though and I'll give that front wheel points on that.

my new whip, i got it yesterday
it stll has the free wheel on it so its just a ss
but i'm picking up my new hug to tranform it into a fixie.
i like it, rides nice, light
totally stock, for now.

artvandelay 07-10-05 10:48 PM

when the spokes in a wheel go slack they slide across eachother at the cross... tied and soldered spokes prevent this and make for a stiffer wheel

this has been beaten to death. soldering just adds rotational weight.

if you can't trust jobst brandt on the topic of bicycle wheels, who can you trust?

I wouldn't picking one of those up. Some people don't like them for the non-traditional looks (fork for example) , but with the exception of the BB and maybe the hub It probably performs pretty well. I don't dislike Aluminum like some do.

Anybody know what kind of BB this has? Square taper or ISIS?

12XU 07-11-05 08:14 AM

That fork makes me want to kill.

When someone posts a picture of their ride (that they're so proud of that they take a picture, like it's their child), I hate to see you chumps put it down.

Just put on a fake 'lil smile & say it's cool. Is that so hard?

And those bikes are like $400, correct? For the money they're cool.

Yep.

Or say nothing at all.

Those bikes are pretty much made for roadies that want a townie or a training bike. I think it should come with a quick release on the front. The fork's not that nice looking, but it's a fork. What the hell.

I think they hit too much middle ground; it should either look more like a road bike or more like a true fixed gear. Glad you got a good deal on the bike you like though; as I certainly didn't!!

here's a crappy non-drive side pic of the new ride. I've had trouble getting solid ID information on it but so far as I know it's a late 80's custom colnago made for the polish track team made with some sort of columbus tubing. Both wheels are 700 and the slope is more dramatic than it looks from this picture. I'll post some better ones a little later.

adamkell 07-11-05 01:13 PM

WithNail, nice! I think we should get our bikes together sometime. Stopping by Miami any time soon?

WithNail 07-11-05 01:25 PM

end of august and I hear the cooper city velo calling out our names!

adamkell 07-11-05 01:50 PM

Classes will have begun but I'll be able to work out a long weekend. Let me know when the time is nearer.

bostontrevor 07-11-05 04:52 PM

Sharp! I'm a sucker for anything with a curved seattube.

i'll second that. I think pinktelephone's key words were

"i like it, rides nice,"

those words..."like"..."ride"...they elevate any bicycle. enjoy the new ride PinkTel. let us know how it goes.

I'm actually used to seeing those kind of forks (on road bikes), so it doesn't bug me. Like I said I'd be happy ride one of those around. As long as it performs I could care less what it looks like.

I even like the threadless headset just because I'm used to that now. My Bianchi lugged steel has a quill stem though.
