Aside from wanting to either get some MKS RX-1s or maybe try clippless, and wanting a better chain, I'm very happy with my current set up...

Your bikes all put my little Maserati conversion to shame... :(

Jose Cuervo 06-10-05 03:22 PM

Things could be worse. You could live in St. Louis.

At least you have cool chrome lugs and chrome dropouts :)

Yes, the cat!

Actually one of my cats ia a tuxedo cat, mostly black, with a little white. Cute little bugger.

I have this idea to have a bike that's the opposite of Sophia, all white frame, all silver components. We'll see.

Ohhh! ZING! Don't remind me! ;)

Actually, St. Louis is a good place... Its taken me time to find the goodness, but its here, hiding beneath the surface. It was a bit of a culture shock moving here a few years ago from Santa Cruz, CA, but I've found my kind here.

And yes, I do take comfort in my chrome lugs. :D

peace,
sam

Here it is...the bike my landlord got rid of. 80's Raleigh Record (58cc?), i did a rattle can paint job, with handpainted lugs and clearcoat.

My cruiser/bar bike.

Nice bike ostro, just one question- why did you replace the crank arms?

What was the total $ invested in the project?

I replaced the crank arms becuase the orginals were some crappy one piece bashring, spider and crank attached deal.http://poets.sfsu.edu/kamiltest/raleigh/crankarms.jpg

shimano spds - $50
paint - $30
bartape - $11
chain $15
cog - $15
my time - priceless!

$120

It always ends up costing more then you initially planned.

the rest of the parts were left overs, i acutally took these crank arms (Bulletproof) off my girls bike and gave her a set of IRO cranks i won, which she was happy to take for her bike since she has an IRO. The wheelset was an older wheel set off of my pinarello, for which i just bought a new wheelset. The rest of the parts i had around the house.

Very nice paint work ostro,

what kind of rear hub is that? I have a cheap Quandro and that axel looks like mine...sticking out almost an inch on either side past the lock nuts; ready to snag pant legs, leg flesh, door frames and anything else that I get to close with...

ostro 06-11-05 12:39 PM

Thanks! Its an IRO (forumula Hub)

chrisj 06-11-05 04:43 PM

Just finished putting my girls bike together. Got the whole thing minus the pedals from Tim! Thanks man she loves it. IRO rear hub, Pogliaghi TT frame, Hatta Headset, Selle Italia Flight saddle.

finally done basically an internet built bike. frame, stem, seatpost, saddle, cranks all off ebay. wheels, bb, cog, chain, bartape purchased online. forgive the budget cranks and wheels, i'd love some campy pista spinners but alas...the sugino rd's are actually pretty nice. all in all i'm quite pleased.

daveed 06-11-05 08:51 PM

Gorgeous bike and very classy. However, IMHO eggbeaters look wrong. Track pedals and steel toe clips complete the picture.

Surferbruce 06-11-05 09:09 PM

i wouldn't disagree with ya about the pedals, but the eggbeaters do look slightly better than the blue candy sl's i have. but yeah, some nice mks pedals and straps would be nice.

Freaking beautiful. Did you polish the hubs yourself?

I was just kidding. I'm from STL. You're right, it's a good place but unfortunately you wouldn't be able to see that if you were just passing through.

Moving from Santa Cruz to the Derrrty Lou...wow. I was just in SC a few months ago for the first time and I fell in love with that place. I plan on moving there (or the Bay area) soon. F this humidity and cold ass winter's. I'm done with the midwest.

I posted this bike here a while ago but since I have changed things around a bit.

Heres the details:

-1982 Schwinn World Sport frame
-Sugino GLP cranks 42t
-Surly flip flop rear hub, quando front hub, laced to ritchey vantage crossports
-DuraAce 16t track cog
-specialized armadillos 700x25c (going strong since october)
-shimano sealed bb
-Brooks professional saddle (taken off an awesome thrift store bike that cost me $15!)
-generic stem off a Schwinn Sprint, bars from an old Peugeot
-cut up inner tube as bar wrap

I have it set up like this to try out a set up for some fixed gear racing we might start around these parts (Delaware). My normal commuter bars are a pair of el toro bullhorns with red bar tape and red oury grips.

Hey no cutting or unbolting of the first chainring..?
