Just got my Brooks today. It ROCKS!!!!! I'm currently in the process of removing the logos from the bike. PAIN IN THE ASS.... Anyway, the Langster is great. I know people here hate on them, but what can you do about it? Will be changing the BB soon.

Cheers,

am i the only one who thinks its weird how many fixed gear photos look like they are taken against the same exact wood fence?

Ahh. If you are an apartment dweller, you are unaware of the subtleties of wood fences. That wood fence looks nothing like my wood fence. The same way this 2005 chrome pista looks nothing like that 2005 chrome pista.

hey.. i mean.. ive got a wood fence too.. maybe the question is.. why do we all prop our bikes against the boring wood fence to take a picture?

Makes me think of that scene at the end of The Doom Generation.
...or the dream sequence scene in the Big Lebowski.

This isn't the 'wood fence gallery'? I'm sorry guys, I am in the wrong forum.
And my wood fence is not boring. It has full custom geometry.

LOL yea it is a treat, my son's (3yrs). I just can't see buying a child growing as fast as him a $120 bike from the LBS. When he gets older he will get all the real bikes he deserves. Oh and the name on the thing is great "Major Damage".

no offense intended here, i was only wondering why brooks saddles are so popular? i saw an ad for them in a mag yesterday and they were REALLY expensive and looked old fashioned... so what am i missing?

your are missing nothing. They are popular for the reasons you stated. They are really expensive and they look old fashioned.

ink1373 03-22-05 12:53 PM

how can someone use the words "old fashioned" as a negative?

stuart, i'm afraid you and i just won't get along.

i didn't use the phrase 'old fashioned' negatively. i wanted to know why people were interested in putting these old fashioned looking saddles on their sometimes new and sleek track bikes. the $400 Ti model looks like it might be relatively lightweight, but other than that i don't get it.

since theyre leather, once you break em in, they mold to your very own arse.

cant get much more comfy than a custom saddle if you can put in the miles it takes to hollow out space for the sit bones.

sheldonbrown.com has a nice article about 'em.

(btw, ive never actually owned one)

you might want to take a look here.

and don't forget that while track/fixed bikes do indeed look sleek, they utilize just about the most 'old fashioned' bicycle technology in existence.

aah ha! that certainly makes a lot of sense, thanks for the info.

Oh sure, rub it in why don't you.

So, how is that honey of a bike doing?

bostontrevor 03-23-05 06:27 AM

I think you're chain might be a bit slack.

A bit? That is a certifiable death machine in its current configuration.
