this is still (very much) in the works. i'm getting a new rear wheel very soon. i'm learning as i go - and being completely broke makes it an even slower process...

Looks like a good start.

This is my shogun. I had the drops on it over the summer and just put the bullhorns on it for the winter. Right now it's covered in slushy muck, so it makes me happy to see it in all of its summer glory.

"That bike is blue and yellow." "That bike is near train tracks." Thanks, Brandune! |

This was my old Salsa one speed. It was awesome.

someone made fun of it because the risers were "hella wide" and the bottle cages were "definitely poseur", and the bike opened a vein.
we need to be more supportive around here. |

When someone posts a picture of their ride (that they're so proud of that they take a picture, like it's their child), I hate to see you chumps put it down.
Just put on a fake 'lil smile & say it's cool. Is that so hard? And those bikes are like $400, correct? For the money they're cool. best |

Ok, so, here's my fixed that I built recently. My first build and I feel it turned out fairly well. Don't tear into it too hard...
It's a Sanwa frame with assorted parts from a track bike that were discarded and a used parts bin. Home paint job as well, just to cover the god awful original color. http://velospace.org/node/7062 |

Check me out
I have a plan to get a right-side downtube shifter and make it a 1x9, with the same cranks. I could switch back and forth between geared and SS/fixed without having to change the cockpit. (WTB: Dura-Ace downtube shifters). I'll have to lengthen the chain, but I just need to keep the extra chain length with an extra Powerlink in a baggie somewhere. And I have to shorten the chain to gear down for SS cross, to a 36 or a 38 tooth ring, so eventually there will be 3 separate Powerlinks in the chain... Sugino cranks, not sure which ones, cheap ones, 110 BCD. Ritchey WCS bars, Salsa stem, Tektro brake levers, Fiz'ik bar tape, cheap Cane Creek brakes. 32mm Vittoria Randonneur tires Chris King headset, Phil Wood BB. Full fenders are the sh1t! The wheels are Surly "New" MTB hubs, 135mm spacing, fixed/free, with Velocity Fusion rims. SS right now, 46x16. I wish I could take better pictures of my bikes. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2410/...e3d684d7_o.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2249/...7f5699a9_o.jpg |
Good plan. Good bike.

I like the way you think.
|
ss/1x9 is a thought i've entertained a few times. i would just keep a separate chain with master link for each setup, though... they'll all last longer and wear at the same rate.

Who else wants to build something like this? Ride down huge, long hills. Freewheel would be needed but would be a blast.
I think centering yourself over the tracks would be better. Of course would make it harder to build. http://blog.makezine.com/352006single.jpg |
Finally signed up.
Heres my newest bike. Crank arm popped off earlier, OG owner forgot to put back in the crank bolts. But its ok, I didnt eat it and I put new bolts in. Nothing too flashy I think. Plain and simple. First bike, Bianchi Pista in the back. Gone through two car hits, so its done for. 1972-74 Gitane. http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h3...3/100_0828.jpg Thanks |
