A project on the go:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2113/...5b815949_o.jpg

Of note:
- restored Motobecane frameset
- Phil Wood hubs
- Mavic Open Pro rims
- Mafac brakes
- Nitto stem
- Honjo fenders

It should turn out nicely (in the end it will be a singlespeed townie).

MIN 12-29-07 10:10 PM

I want a carbon rim job.

barba 12-29-07 10:12 PM

The Honjos look great. Post the finished pic.

br995 12-29-07 10:24 PM

I thought those fenders were plastic-wrapped tires.

only tool i see is a bike stand?

el twe 12-30-07 12:16 AM

I think he's talking about the not-a-seatpost. And yes, that is exactly what it's for.

endo shi 12-30-07 12:21 AM

cause clamping yer frame into the stand is not classy.

great, now my mind is blown

deathhare 12-30-07 01:53 AM

That thing is wild.
Can you explain the advantages of the unusual frame design?
Looks amazing.

Tangsooyuk 12-30-07 01:53 AM

Oh, this is sure to get interesting. Like the last few times...

Thanks man! As far as I've been able to tell the only major advantage to this particular frame design is the attention is commands, hehe. No seriously, I've been chugging along and had people driving next to me try to start conversations about it. Other than that it rides like a dream!

deathhare 12-30-07 02:01 AM

So you ride it on the street a lot? It visits the track i assume though?
Really cool stuff! Thanks for posting it.
The stand is taped to the crank. :)

Sporadicus 12-30-07 02:07 AM

Too much leather.

Sporadicus 12-30-07 02:07 AM

Sweet tho.

TimArchy 12-30-07 02:27 AM

Not many of those bikes exist. Being too long away from the track probably makes it sad.
I hope it gets raced every once in a while.
Good looking build though.
Looks like it might be one of the most expensive builds I've seen.

I've been lusting after one of the sloping TT + curved seat tube Yamaguchi's but they've always been way outside my price range.

Fugazi Dave 12-30-07 02:35 AM

So sick. So so so so sick.

Just to make sure the Yamaguchi doesn't get all the love, this is going to be awesome. Who did the paint/decals? It looks great.

br995 12-30-07 08:34 AM

I think that Yamaguchi just might fit my vision of the hottest bike (even the Brooks doesn't look awful (though I would change it)). Wow.

I just took pictures of my Makino to post, but I think it may have to wait. That Yamaguchi is killer.

The rims are just the stock Alex DA-22s. I was thinking about getting some open pros with my performance giftcard when they are in stock.

Noooiiice.

Those are the bars I'd like to switch my vanilla road bars for. Are the tops comfortable despite that curve?

And the tape...what is it?

I actually thought that was going to be a big problem, but my hands are just fine on the tops of the bars. I think it would be uncomfortable for long distances. Luckily I never have the need to ride more than about 10 miles at a time. The tape is Soma Thick and Zesty. I think it matches the brooks pretty well.

wearyourtruth 12-30-07 10:17 AM
