Jesus ****...

I can be impressed no more by one person's ridiculous collection of bikes. It's time for you to go, tripleC.

'Tis better to have loved and lost...

Zombie Carl 12-30-07 11:12 AM

every time dude posts one of his bikes, I like him less and less. More money than aesthetic sense.

bexley 12-30-07 11:17 AM

I could take a few off his hands so he'd be slightly less money. Plan?

shakeNbake 12-30-07 11:42 AM

Is that yamaguchi track-legal? I don't know much about track rules, but I know that UCI-Road rules want downtubes.

MIN 12-30-07 11:58 AM

The Yamaguchi deserves its own thread. I am very facinated by it but it seems like an absurd design for stiffness. There is a reason why the double triangle frame design has been pervasive for the last 100 years.

Igneous Faction 12-30-07 12:26 PM

The 'Guch can do no wrong. I really ought to take his framebuilding course.

I know you meant ST, but I think that they're track legal. He made more than one, so they have to have served some purpsose.

I think the first incarnation of his Bilenky and now this Yamaguchi look amazing. Said it before, but the Yamaguchi is my dream bike.

beatifik 12-30-07 12:37 PM

i can't believe someone actually owns that bike.

btw, isn't burying carbon rims in the snow kinda bad for 'em?

sick bike.

If you check out the flickr link in his original post, the last photo is of him with mr. yamaguchi at a velodrome. Which I assume indicates it's legal.

I would love to see the build sequence for that frame. The fixturing alone...

The picture was sent to him by Yamaguchi and the white guy in it is not the current owner.

Story of how he got the frame here. Sounds like a dream.

That is an amazingly awesome story. Some people have all the luck :p... well the photo still implies that the bike is track legal.

onetwentyeight 12-30-07 03:54 PM

track legal and uci legal are two different things.

as long as it has drop bars, track ends, no qr, no freewheel and no brakes, its fine...

Have you even seen the bikes this guy posts? The Bilenky and Mercian made me want to poke my eyes out. The Guch is an awesome frame, obviously, but imagining it sitting there with the rest of his collection makes me frown. I just hope I remember to look at my color wheel when it's time for me to build up a multi-thousand dollar bike.

wethepeople 12-30-07 08:15 PM

Another fun little conversion I just finished.

I'd like a desktop size of this, is that a possibility? Great looking bike, seat and all.

I doubt it is now. UCI requires a main triangle. It was legal when Mike McCarthy won the 5K (yes, 5K) professional pursuit on it way back when.
