Court, do you throw on drops when you do club rides? Roadies tend to freak out over bullhorns, they think they're going to get impaled.

br995 01-07-08 11:38 AM

I imagine he rides a road bike.

nah i only ride with my drops on sunday or late at night. I really dont like riding with them on in heavy traffic. they really increase my stopping distance. but i can sprint faster with them on. Or at least it feels like it. I assume it has something to do with the shift in weight and the shift in riding position but drops make the bike really really twitchy and i cant get enough leverage to skid in the seat

or I ride my road bike for group rides, plus the road bike does better manuals

Manuals, clipped in, sounds like pain.

piwonka 01-07-08 01:06 PM

you mean wheelies.

yeah it's hard to skid or backpedal if you're down in the drops so you gotta raise up and move your hands to the top or the curves.

Manuals are wheelies whilst coasting, aren't they?

Zombie Carl 01-07-08 05:40 PM

Pedaling = wheelie

Coasting = manual

Mine. Just got it for xmas. Switched out the bars and chain ring. I love it.

bonechilling 01-07-08 08:08 PM

I love orange bikes. Looks great.

What bars are those?

x136 01-07-08 08:33 PM

Man, I thought the Ritchey BioMax bars had a shallow drop.

Good lookin' bike, though. Orange wins.

Straws 01-07-08 08:44 PM

i think it might be the angle. They look a bit like the Soma Walker bars...but they have hoods so I have no idea.

dewthedew 01-07-08 08:45 PM

those bars look awful.

anomaly 01-07-08 09:22 PM

I believe they are road runnering bars, and are splayed out quite a bit hence them looking very shallow.

freeskihp 01-07-08 10:25 PM

dirt drops perhaps?

humancongereel 01-07-08 11:25 PM

yeah, they do look like dirt drops.

miss_emma 01-07-08 11:59 PM

Not sure on the bars. I got them from a friend. The bike came with extra wide bars that were no good because I'm tiny. They feel good and I think they look pretty alright.

humancongereel 01-08-08 12:01 AM

huh....the flare and shallow drop looks like dirt drops, but the rise looks like randonneur bars. crazy. i dunno what's up. that's cool, though.

Straws 01-08-08 01:57 AM

Do you guys generally keep your knogs on your handlebars? I have mine on my fork.

TehK 01-08-08 02:35 AM

chase. 01-08-08 02:55 AM

i hate stuff on my handlebars and would prefer to have my knog on the fork, but both of mine are bladed to the point where it won't fit. f that new school noise. currently i just stretch it over the spacers on the steer tube.
