Basically I took the ugly seat that used to be on there off and put back on the original saddle, which is more comfortable anyways. I also added a front brake because I realized its definitely a necessity. I added a link in the chain too, so my back wheel is now seated well in the dropouts. And lastly I redid the bartape. Thanks to everyone for their good advice.

Ok, even if this is true, which it isn't, it doesn't explain the wildly stupid use of SPD pedals rather than conventional platforms, expect for the lame, immature "look at me, guys!" factor.

fungis is quite the skilled rider, and a good dude. I think he's ****ing NUTS for riding SPDs as platforms, but he does it well.

Why?

probably because bonechilling has a pretty good understanding of weight transfer and how that affects the amount of friction that your back tire has with the ground. i can skid without a clip on my foot and to go even further i can do it with only one foot on the pedals. you know what though, i sure don't slow down hardly any at all.

so you skid...and keep skidding and keep skidding and your stopping distances are absolutely rediculous (long). get some clips and straps or some shoes clip to those pedals and then learn a smooth circular pedal stroke, how to backpedal, and how to skid with your weight where it needs to be...then you will be able to haul ass and slow down like normal.

i've been riding fix for 11 years. and i slow down just as normal as you. i don't go around skidding everywhere as i don't like spending money on tires every two weeks. it's not that difficult.

Now I'll admit that I couldn't sit through more than 30 seconds of that pile of ****, but I skipped around, and what I saw were some clowns riding around in a vacant parking lot and on a pier doing "tricks." And none of this explains why you would do something as ******baggey as riding SPD with sneakers.

i rode old style 105 spd's with straps on my old road bike with old road bike and they made my feet hurt. i gave that up really quicy, some people are just alot harder than others

well fungis, for that riding you don't really need clips or cleats i guess.

that's not all i do. i ride my bike everywhere just like the rest of you. i don't understand why people get all butt hurt and start trying to prove a point when they have nothing to say.

I think people don't understand why you prefer this style of pedal. Being able to ride SPDs in street shoes is one thing. Choosing that combo over other seemingly more effective and equally affordable options is another.
