seriously though, i rode my tri-spoke yesterday in windy conditions. while it does catch the wind, it's not that bad. you don't really get blown around, the handling is very subtly affected. this varies with weight and position though.

Why such wide bars?

If you're referring to mine, it's because I don't mind them wide and like having more control.

its lighter than my spoke wheels and I don't ride it in the wind.

mr. know it all. if your gonna talk isht learn what your talking about. I have and aerospoke too and it is a F-ing tank but the wind isn't so much an issue with the aerospoke like there is with the HED3.

Just for the sake of knowing, how are spinergys in terms of weight and cross-wind abilities?

The camera angle makes it look like a pursuit, but both wheels are 700c. C-Record hubs with Dura-Ace 10 pitch cranks, chain and cog.

That DA10 stuff goes for a lot on eBay. Where do you get your chains?

Reminds me of my Atala. I really miss that bike.

It's too bad that the only pic I have of it is with this crappy post and saddle.

I can't handle this bike, man.

Is that an Ellipse in the rear?

You haven't ridden with a properly aero wheel have you.

br995 02-10-08 09:02 AM

The Kalavinka is beautiful. And I would ride the **** out of that DAB.

p.s. With the track bikes Chrisj has, I can only imagine what road bikes might be in their stable.

I've seen groups of DA10 stuff sell on ebay for 350. Though to be honest, I bought the 46t chainring, and chain breaker separate. I got everything else from a group I had bought off Andy / Fyxomatosis. If you don't have everything to get 10 pitch running its rather frustrating.

There is some weird optical illusion stuff going on, because even when I straighten the top tube in Photoshop, the front wheel appears smaller *and* you can see the non-drive side seatstay from the inside of the triangle, which normally would put the front wheel closer to you and make it look bigger.

You must have been standing pretty close to the bike, or there's some funky lens distortion.

How about some shots of the Kalavinka? It is rare to see a large frame like that, is it a 56? Was it custom built for you?

Gosh that Kalavinka frame is a thing of beauty! Not a big fan of the build but the frame makes up for it and that color is in my top 3 favorites of all time!

Igneous Faction 02-10-08 03:04 PM

I'm a big fan of those webbed Long-Shens.

Is that what they are? I was just about to ask. I may soon be trading some web-design skillz for a custom track frame, and If I can, I would love those lugs to be part of it. Should any reputable builder be able to source those?

Thanks!
