if it fit like a glove you could have that stem the opposite of what it is..that'd be more proper. just my opinion though. i don't like fancy lugs either, but once again my opinion. to each their own.

My first fixed gear ever! I finished it today a few hours ago.

That black Fizik tape sure is disappointing, right? I hate mine.

Nice looking conversion, but I'd advice you to put a brake on there.

Youngin 11-14-07 09:23 PM

A little bit, but I like the feel of it, especially on a cold day, I dunno why. I'm looking for a good cheap brake. So far I can't go down any hills.

You can ride the stem high or low. I prefer high. Also, as far as proper goes, take a close look at the set up on MT's bike... I def am into very minimal to non lugged bikes as well. This is just my over the top lugged whip...

shapelike 11-14-07 10:06 PM

Fun fact: The whole Hetchins stays look wasn't for any performance benefit. It was so the bikes were instantly recognizable when being ridden by "amateur" racers who weren't allowed to have any logos on their gear. The bikes met the rules but still advertised the frame builder.

PS. Those wheels ruin the bike which is too small for you. That being said, it's a damn nice frame and you'll hopefully keep it for years. Maybe your kids (if that's in your future) will be a bit shorter than you and you can give the bike to one of them.

Well, here's the thing. If you look at the seatlug you'll notice it's wicked low, exposing more of the post. Also, the lugs are vintage 50's. The geometry of frames back then was a lot more laid back which again, adds to it's exposed length. Lastly, that Brooks Swallow saddle is super narrow. Which requires it to sit a tad bit higher for better comfort. Believe it or not, when side by side, my Bianchi's saddle sits at nearly the exact same height but looks much lower...

That's your other bike ... oh.

Give the Hetchins away while it still has a chance. You don't deserve it.

bexley 11-14-07 10:15 PM

Can I have just one of your bikes?

Nice Hetchins fact, shapelike. Now I can continue to lust after them just for their looks.

Okay, well, since I was the one measured for this frame and nobody else was, can we get off the whole "it doesn't fit you" tangent. Please refer to my previous post about the reason why the post appears too high...

What are you even going on about?

Youngin 11-14-07 10:31 PM

Awww... hell no. That is a sweet bike.

bexley 11-14-07 10:37 PM

Wait, if all of your bikes have matching helmets like that Bianchi's, I'm curious to see what'll cap your noggin on the Bilenky.

For the hell of it--actually, since I'm procrastinating--let's see a shot of your lightest ride.

BRANDUNE 11-14-07 10:45 PM

Why is there a 1/2 link on the Bilenky?

Nope, two black helmets is all I got. I like my bikes to match themselves, not me...

The Bianchi IS my lightest ride and is the most ridden out of all of them. It's what I commute on 20ish miles to and from work. The rest are all steel...

Because I wanted the rear wheel as close to the BB as I could get it...

BRANDUNE 11-14-07 10:51 PM

I just looked again, now I get it, that curvy tubing is confusing

JellyMeetsJam 11-14-07 11:07 PM

Simple is sexy. With bikes anyway. Women, not so much.
