maybe the rider uses the risers to get to the velodrome? ha ha, i dunno. i don't want to hate, cuz that is some solid ish, but i can see why there's hate.

then again, remember, most of us are riding bikes designed for the velodrome on the street.

probably because the BMC, being carbon, would be a serious racer, whereas the steel track frames we're riding around the city are only seen on a professional level in japanese keirin races where they're following 70's policies, and the rest of the world has moved onto clipless pedals, aluminum/carbon frames and aero wheels over 36 spoke box rims, steel frames and quill stems. that stuff is cool on lower level competition but you'd never see it professionally, whereas the BMC would be quite at home.

that's my train of thought at least. i can't lie, i'd love to own that frame and i'd use it on the street, i'd just never run risers on it. couldn't spend that much money on a frame w/o using at the velodrome too, though.

i hate myself for loving the bmc.

the fake as **** 'lens hood' burned corners still annoy me to death on that picture.

i disagree, but it might be different in the photo than in daylight.

BMC looks like cheap molded plastic....

jim-bob 12-18-07 05:56 PM

It would take very little paint-pen editing to turn that ridiculous BMC into a "crack machine"

Looks like actual vignetting to me.

canon kit lens at 21mm f/7.1 shouldn't vignette

Fugazi Dave 12-18-07 06:10 PM

But who knows how the hell the guy who shot it has his **** set up. Yeah, it could be fake, but I'm just saying it isn't necessarily so. Besides, who says it's the kit lens? All the metadata shows is 21mm.

donkekus 12-18-07 06:14 PM

a little too ovalized to be natural i say...

Fugazi Dave 12-18-07 06:15 PM

Perhaps. In any case, I'd still ride the **** out of that bike.

that's what I'm saying. He basically framed the bike with the burns. obviously not real vignetting.

bexley 12-18-07 06:38 PM

burn != vignetting

In photography, burning means adding light in the printing process (ie. the opposite of casting a shadow, called dodging).
