I AM VICTORIOUS

well...i think im finally ready to display my bike on the forum. It still needs some work before the FGG, but its been four months....time for me to share the amazing gift that is my bke with the world....or at least the bums who check this thread 15 times daily

the pictres are washed out and poorly composed, the bike is dirty..but who knows when ill get another free 15 mins for a photo shoot.

if anybody actualy wants to see more pics....just holler....i have plenty more.

Specs
1.Follis frame. I assume the junkier one from the 70s. Maybe 56 cm. Im 6'3" and it seems to work...Go figure
2.Suzue Rear Hub, No name sealed hub: laced to sunrims.....these are not what i ordered...NYC Bikes screwed it up but i have learned to love the wheels (as opposed to that shop)
3.Stronglight Ebay Special Crankset w/ stock 42t 3/32 pitch ring
4.Gipiemme french pedals from the 70s too. Definately not NOS...but they still turn smoothly
5.Christope straps and toe clips
6.KMC 1/8 pitch bmx chain
7.Dura Ace 1/8 pitch 16t cog. Soon to be replaced with suntour 11t cog
8.Generic seatpost with shim to fit odd seat tube size
9.Selle Italia Nitrox Saddle. Amazingly uncomfortable. But very sexy
10.GT (?) stem from nashbar
11.Nashbar Bullhorns and Tape
12.Cateye blinkie light
13.Presta to Schreder converters on the valves
14.The top tube is wrapped in extra handlebar tape for protection from swinging handlebars
15.Vredestein Volante 700x23c tires until i get some 42c for the winter
18.Sugino short stack chainring bolts
19.No breaks...WAHOO!

wow....that is much more than im sure any of you actualy wanted to know about my bike.

hope you dont hate it. anybody else have a follis?

toodles
max

Hate it? I think it looks pretty sharp. But then again I'm a sucker for black and red, so...

I'm trying to scrape up enough dough to finish my new ... er, old bike. It's a rescue-case lugged Nishiki in don't-steal-me flat black and junk bin everything else. But then it's also got a shiny red set of Velocity Razor rims, so I suppose it's a study in contrasts. Or something.

icithecat 11-19-04 10:15 PM

Emayex. I think you may have lost a bolt judging from the pick of your chainring.

emayex 11-19-04 11:46 PM

i think....actually i know i am....they keep falling out...it is getting expensive....i think im gonna try locktite in them when i get a new one....hopefully tom

thanks for pointing it out...i was hoping nobody would notice

bostontrevor 11-19-04 11:49 PM

Get a stackbolt tool. It's a little tiny three pronged fork that allows you to hold the back stationary so you can tighten them until they won't budge. I'll bet money that's your problem.

Extra bonus: the tool is cheaper than a new set of bolts.

emayex 11-20-04 12:19 AM

hmmm....i made one out of a fork...i guess recycled utensils just dont cut it

Made some updates to my ride. I feel less like a tomboy, and suddenly very girly - its kinda fun. I am thinking of changing her generic name of "fixie" to my valentine. I got a new wheelse and threw on some new vittorias as a present to her. And then even splurged on a matching mini chrome as a present for me, for days I am not lugging heavy books.

Aint she peeeerrrty? You think it would be overboard to wrap her bars in red tape?

SSenorPedro 11-20-04 12:58 AM

Very nice. I think our Trek fixies would get along well together. And fixed-riding girls never fail to be hot.

And no, red tape would not be overboard at all, I think maybe halfway like a keirin bike with black tape would look very nice. Now I wouldn't mind wrapping your bars in red bar tape and....er....anyway looks very good.

BlastRadius 11-20-04 01:28 AM

Half bar wrap _would_ be great looking... and maybe a saddle with red accents too.

PriO 11-20-04 03:53 AM

While you're at it, color your hair red too! :)

pitboss 11-20-04 06:41 AM

SG -
Do the red wrap. A good bike deserves a theme. Gonna go to the stem or just halfway?
