THEN SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THAT PICTURE. U need to recheck the BB. When Benotto was made in Italy they were outstanding products but when they move production to Mexico they went under. They used to have frames problems ( BB and seat tubes cracking, chain stays craing near bb). I have seen these recent frames in person and the craftmanship SUCKS! This is why some dealers may have stop carrying them in stock. Look at your frame closer look at the welds, and paint job,the file marks near the track ends and lugs. I have seen some with hammer marks on the chainstays near the track ends, from your photos yours don't look bad. This is just to let you know about the frame, not to get you in panic mode.. so i just bought this bike on craigs list.
This is an aluminum Cannondale road bike converted to a fixed gear. It is running 45x16 with a front brake. The rise bars, oury grips, and 16t Durace cog are new to this bike. This frame measures 56cm TT ctc and 56 ST ctc. The saddle is a Selle Italia and the cranks, and front brake caliper are Shimano 600. The bike is extremely light and fun to ride. I'm 5'9" and it fits me fine, but I would not recomend this size for anyone shorter. The rear wheel has been respaced and redished for a straight chainline. The bike has a 700c front rim and a 27" rear rim. it's 1 thirty in the morning and i waited a long time for the more then gracious seller to find me but it was worth it. This is my first fixed gear, i had a single speed that was recently envolved in a little accident, but i couldn't be happier, until i am riding her tomorrow. thanks for letting em express my joy |
My Olympia town bike is up on FGG...#2005

That is pure beauty!!

I'm thorougly enjoying the same frame as a freewheelin' singlespeed cyclocross build up. 700x45c Ritchey Trailmix tires wedged into the fork and stays and some kinky Tektro cantilevers. I'm heavily (already said 'thoroughly') amazed at the trail mix tires. I ride them on pavement and haven't gone down on the elbows yet! Off road? A frickin' blast! |
I would like to give a shout out to 'wonko the chain' and his/her post about the Crow bike (that sweet black Crosscheck)
I really liked how you made that into a little story and thusly provided pictures to go along with it. Very well done. Also: I'm really falling in love with those black Crosschecks. I origianally thought it would be sweet to save up and buy one of the complete red ones, but no longer. Now I want to get the black frame, build it up with a flip-flop hub, drop bars, cantilevers, 700x45c's. Keep the whole thing black and on the top of the top tube paint a railroad track design along the top and on the right side of the top tube by the seat tube a have a real cool 'John Henry' scripted onto it. On the sides of the cranks facing out I would have some long handled sledge hammers and on the right chanstays I would have 'One peice at a time....' scripted in. Mmmmmm. |
I guess the front gear would be the "burning (chain)ring of fire"?

og gawd...mine will never look like that....beautiful

Here's my new Lemond. Actually, it's a Cannondale CAAD4, supposedly made for the Saturn team (sponsored by Lemond) since Lemond doesn't make a track frame. I speculate that it was made for Chann McRae (2002 USPRO road champion) since he raced for Saturn and the bottom bracket is stamped MCRAET (T for track?). TA Alize crank and bottom bracket, Easton EC30 fork, Dura ace hubs, Mavic rims, Lemond seat post (from my Buenos Aires, since I liked the logo), Nashbar stem and bars, Fizik seat (which I hate), 46 x 16 with a 1/8" chain. 15.8 lbs (when it's wearing Speedplays). I hope the picture works.....

Here's my Soma Rush that I just finished yesterday! Its a little different in that it has a threaded headset. I had Bernie Mikkelsen ( go check him out: www.mikkelsenframes.com ) do the conversion for me. Its really cool to see how he does it. He actually cuts down the steerer tube, pounds in a big ass plug then hammers on a threaded steerer tube. He then checks it for true, tig welds it, checks it for true again, then grinds down the welds. The result is a steerer tube that is so overbuilt that its probably stronger than a stock one! Next, the bike is off to powercoat. Pardon the brake, I like to go fast down hills. I eventually want a new wheelset, but gotta wait for that a bit longer.

I don't know why i had such difficulty getting the coaster hub back together......for some reason I couldn't get the brake shoes in lace and keep them there - kinda felt Like I needed a few more hands! |
