randonneurs are great tires but I found them to square out pretty easily.

Was that virgin white "baby" above conceived by the owner, or did the bike shop guys do the baby making and you did the baby paying?

^^ i was leaning heavily toward shop built + put on display, but the frog light around the rear hub was throwing me off. lol good to know she put some love into a build that warrants it to the fullest.

Laila is an expert wheel builder and used to work in the shop where this pic was taken. I'm pretty sure she conceived, built and did everything to that bike. She is an active and respected person in the trackbike and alleycat scene here (Seattle). The shop in the pic is called Mobius, a loft in downtown Seattle.

I've completed 4 builds in the past 4 months and here is my latest. I spent more on my other builds but I doubt that I enjoy them more than I do my new single speed. It is based on a late 80's/early 90's 22" Diamondback mtb frame. The back wheel is a 28-hole 1980 Campy Record hub laced 3X to a silver Sun 0 degree XC rim with black 14/15 DT spokes. The front wheel is a 36-hole Shimano 600 hub laced 1X to a 24-hole Sun 0 degree XC rim. The crank is a Deore tandem stoker crank that was flipped to the right side and the pedal holes drilled out and helicoiled so the pedals wouldn't be on backwards. The gears are 38/16 so this old man can get up the hills here in South Texas. I'm ready to break in a new Brooks B17 Imperial saddle which I added last night. Sometimes I amaze myself with what I can put together with stuff from parts boxes in my garage.
