i figure i might as well offer some fodder to this thread. i'm new to it but i've read back through the last few months of posts so i know what to expect. i don't want to spoil anyone's party with too many pre-emptive digs on my own bike, but i could go with a shorter stem. surprisingly not uncomfortable though. and yes it is a threadless stem with threaded forks. the plan was to get new forks, but i went way over my budget so...$15 dollar adapter instead.
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a76...n_p/sapgtb.jpg i love GTs. I rode this '89 GT Interceptor all over LA for the last 4 years (and a '92 GT Dyno Air for 2 years before that): http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a76...nterceptor.jpg anyways, i obviously needed a bigger bike. there's still some changes to be made to the GTB, including maybe even getting it chromed one day to match the interceptor, which is still a lot of fun to ride. |
First time posting pics.
I just got my frame/fork back from powdercoating. It was originally a matte grey windsor hour, but i got it powdercoated gloss white. The pics dont do the paint any justice. It's just a commuter for me since I'll be at UC Davis next fall. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...9/IMG_2276.jpg |
loving all the snow pictures

Straps, white stem, and bullhorn are coming in tomorrow. Looking to replace the crankset and frame in the near future.

Replaced the handlebars (see bent ones in background), changed the tape from gold to black, some cheap generic pedals, and new saddle.

Except that to a non-cyclist it would look broken :P

I am a bicyclist and I think it looks broken.
|
You see those all over Philly. I think it's a local shop which specs the frame from Taiwan and sells complete.
|
Yeah, if I remember right, they are really really cheap.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that frame is a tad too small for you...

Hey everyone,
This is my first post in ss/fg so I thought I'd do it right. Here's the first shot of my newly built beasty: http://i42.tinypic.com/241jfo9.jpg A shot of the drive train: http://i43.tinypic.com/34io0ap.jpg How does my chain tension look? This is my first FG build and I'm not sure if I got the tension right... And finally, a side view the beast: http://i42.tinypic.com/2vwzj1l.jpg The details... Frame/fork: 1987(ish) Peugeot (found in a pile of garbage in a back lane). The crank set was attached to the bike as well as the seatpost and stem. Price= $0.00 Wheelset: low end Formula track hubs laced into Alex Da-22 rims + rear cog. Price = $175 H. bars: low end alum. road bars. Price = $40 Misc: Bar tape, brake lever etc. Price = $20 Everthing else I already had, so to build a fully functionally budget FG my total cost was $225 Canadian. Not bad for a winter beater basher! On a side note, I have clips for the pedals but haven't installed them yet. (too excited to take pics), and yes I know they are bmx/mountain bike pedals...I had 'em lying around so they made their way onto the bike...sooner or later I'll get proper pedals.:D |
