S/F, CEYA! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/1971-Cinelli-Spe...QQcmdZViewItem this is how it is supposed to look.. the metal stamp on the BB tube reads: Drive chain side reads: 2074 Pedal side reads: 55 i thought it was #20 from 1974... Anyone care to clarify... i'd like to know what year my bike is... thanks! |
Ceya's right, that bike was probably made in the past ten years. It's not a bad thing though, I have a very recent cinelli(road) and it's quite nice. And what do you mean by work in progress? That bike looks pretty tricked out from the photo.

Here is some help...http://www.petry.org/markp/lastoria.htm
The page that has all the numbers is no longer there but this should help. Can you post close up of the seat lug and fork and bb. My old Cinelli Super Corsa I got mine in 1985-86 number are 8421 with G underneath it. I was having the paint and chrome redone by Cuevas years ago but it didn't work out. The chroming place in LIC dipped the fork but covered the C on the fork. It has been in storage since 1989 - 90 S/F, CEYA! P.S. I found the page..yes http://www.cinelliregistry.com/ |
I was able to find at least a limited log of Cinelli numbers in the Internet Archive(I LOVE THIS!!)

Any of you all know where I can find this kinda material for Pinarello dating? Yes I know I asked in another thread but it went over like a pregnant pole vaulter.

These two old SS conversions are being posted at Winter Cycling, but I thought I could put them here as well. Both are flea market 15 $ bikes: One has a doctored Helicomatic freewheel with only the 15 cog left, the other is a cassette with a dedicated cheapo 20 cog.

I just bought and did a little conversion on this Merckx MX-Leader. Another Craigslist find, I bought it for 500 which considering the bike I thought to be a good deal. More photos are on my blog, Here I still have some minor tweaking to do, and eventually I am going to build it back up as a geared bike. Getting it riding as a FG was much easier than going through the figuring out how to rebuild a mid-90's Dura-Ace STI lever. It did make me a little sad to tear down my commuter bike and strip the wheels off to build this one up. Sorry the photos aren't the best..Here |
I was about to be very mad, but you say it will be back to normal sometime in the future. Amazing bike, you are very lucky. Ask Salome, I just adore those bicycles.
|
I just had an incredible urge to ride the bike and didn't have the exact parts lying around to do so having it geared. For some reason although the rest of the bike is 600 the left sti lever was Dura-Ace, but hooked up to a Campy Derailer. As soon as I get some more money I am planning on building it up properly, not sure what direction I am going to take it yet.

Here's a fixed gear and a singlespeed, both done on the cheap. The fixie is an old C.Itoh (Bridgestone) geared at 60" for dirt roads, light trail and around town use. The MTB, a Cyclepro was recently rescued from the trash heap and fitted with a Shimano BMX cog and a new chain geared at 34x16 (55") for singletrack riding.

here's a crappy pic of the new ride.
specs: Spicer alloy frame, Tsunami fork, Suntour Superbe cranks, chainring (50t) & seatpost, Superbe Pro hubs with a 16t EAI cog, Nitto Aerodynamics bullhorns (flipped), King headset, Titec stem, Turbo seat. |
Nice bike man, I'm a big fan of Spicer frames. I love the honkin' big track ends - makes them look burly as ****!
How do you find the bars? I've never heard of anyone flipping bullhorns... |
the bars work well. they've got a more pronounced curve than modern bullhorns, so they basically look like really shallow drops when they're flipped over.
|
Damn, you could club a baby seal with those track ends.

The Kiyo is finally done!!

|
Judah, where's the nut protector/ stem cozy it was wearing in Chicago???
I like that clean bike. |
