I hope this is a joke. If there's one type of people that I can't stand, its those that can only appreciate a bike if its a fixed gear. Who cares if it has amazing components, a storied history or is beautiful as a road bhike...strip that ***** and convert it. I like fixed gears much more than road bikes too but get a grip.

I would, but it's still in Japan :( Haven't been able to get it over yet, hoping in the next coupla weeks to be able to do so. It has the same aero crown, but slightly different seatstay attachment as that road frame.

I'm actually getting a different 3Rensho track bike with a non-aero crown in the next couple of weeks, so I'll take some careful pictures of that as well.

sashae 03-03-06 11:16 AM

Okay... Chimbly's crown looks totally different than the 3 other 3R crowns i've seen in person -- I've owned two different road frames, and I've seen a track frame up close as well (that wasn't mine) and none looked like that one.

I hate being wrong.

efarrar 03-03-06 11:18 AM

Heres my 2nd fixie (which cannibalized my conversion). I will edit this post with better photos when i get them.

I think you should upgrade that frame protector...

OK, usually I like it when people geek out on minutiae around here, but the fork crown talk is getting out of hand. I don't usually get into being the "on topic police" but this thread is for pictures of bikes. If you want to discuss fork crowns ad nauseam, why not start a fork crown thread. Who knows maybe it'll even get stickied!

P.S. Chuck_Norris, you should see your optometrist that's not even close

Chuck, that's the same crown as the 3Rensho but photographed from the rear.

juvi-kyle 03-03-06 02:08 PM

I like the Bianchi Pista's fork-crown *****es.

I found the blue 3rensho road frame on eBay a couple years ago. Very bad cosmetic condition, but it didn't have any real damage, so it was worth the paint/decal costs.

I can recommend Ed Litton in Richmond, CA, for paint, restoration, frame repair and custom framebuilding. He's been around for a long time (former partner of Eisentraut, I believe) and is known for excellent fillet-brazed and lugged steel frames. I don't know if he's going to be at the show this weekend; but if you're in the bay area and thinking about a custom frame, he should be on your short list.

koyman 03-03-06 03:38 PM

really, no more crowns unless there's a bike attached to them.

thanks.
