take good care of those hubs. loose ball and cone bearings will need regular maintenance.

juvi-kyle 10-25-05 12:30 AM

weird.

Wow, nice setup....those Pro Max hubs are just so nice! I hate to say this, but those parts are better suited to something less generic. Do you have plans to upgrade the frame one day to match those parts? Looks nice though.

billyjobjimbob 10-25-05 09:21 AM

Rats, double post, sorry, I am a newb ;)

Nice lookin' rig but this just looks so....wrong. The phrase "Italian Huffy" gets thrown around here alot with regards to the Bianchi Pista and I never understood that until now:

I disagree. The only thing that I don't like about it is the mis-matched rim colors. I like the picking up of the accent yellow. And CF is good on anything.

I thought that DeBernardi's were the Italian Huffy? Bianchi isn't italian anymore.

polish 10-25-05 10:08 AM

I love a good Huffy. I am aware of the non-sealed bearings stuff, thanks for the heads up though. I plan on keeping the frame and continuing to replace the rest of the components. I enjoy the fact that some people HATE pistas, and enjoy even more buying what I considered to be a good bike and making it better. Riding it is fun as hell, and building strength and skills is fun too. Thanks for the feedback.

BostonFixed 10-25-05 10:22 AM

Interesting pista. Is that your first fixie?

I'm not sure If I dig the mismatched deepvees, but nice job nonetheless.

chzman 10-25-05 10:30 AM

nice looking ride polish , i have no problem with a pista frame, i even like mismatched rims. maybe you shouldve got a white saddle to go with the yellow front, white rear idea.

polish 10-25-05 10:36 AM

Yeah, first fixie. Been mountain biking since about age 12, then had a Fuji road bike after that, which got stolen.

BostonFixed 10-25-05 10:37 AM

Maybe you should pout a brake on?

i have to say i like '04-'05 pistas because i find chrome classy. i just find the decals a bit overbearing and gaudy. have you ever thought about stripping the decals off?

polish 10-25-05 10:51 AM

Yeah- They overdid it with decals for sure. I like the color bands, but the 'features' decals are annoying. Reminds me of new electronics when they are covered in decals promoting all the stupid features. I have a feeling I can't selectively strip decals while keeping the finish consistent. I should have shot the other side of the bike- the rubinos don't have graphics on that side, and just the subconscious effect of that makes it cleaner. I keep an eye on ebay and CL for large frames in the meantime to start bike 2.

jayrooney 10-25-05 11:04 AM

it's great for your first fixed bike.
and it's good that you took a drivetrain side shot.
the mismatched rims are crazy. i like it.

habitus 10-25-05 11:08 AM

there are a few people here who have stripped decals off pistas.

should look for a brake too, especially if your new to fixed. Why bike 2 already? need NJS cred? j/k but should use a brake till you get absolutely sure you can handle it, its safer that way.

I personally don't care for bianchi pistas either way, but to each his own. The mismatched rims are pretty cool though, but I would've switch the front and back so you have that yellow offset.

polish 10-25-05 11:29 AM

I had a brake, I ride every day, I found I stopped using it entirely, so I removed it. Good looking out though, that's nice to know safety is a concern. I've had the bike for months now, just recently put these wheels on, and before that I rode for years in SF on that beater Fuji. And motorcycle safety school taught a ton about lane position and 'being seen', so that's been pounded into my consciousness.

Frogger 10-25-05 11:40 AM

Thanks! I was a little late, and it was too large anyway. I needed a 54cm - 56cm.

Frogger 10-25-05 11:50 AM

Thanks, but I ride 54 - 56cm. Enjoy working on your Windsor over the winter!

i like that pista, polish.

adamkell 10-25-05 12:17 PM

what tires, eddie? they have gray sidewalls and black tread, yea?

eddiebrannan 10-25-05 12:25 PM

michelin pro race. not cheap but really really nice. smooth and fast, and seemingly pretty skip/skid-resistant too.

they have a little yellow/blue in the logo area which ssets off my miche cranks lovely :)
