a friend of mine hooked me up with getting a bike (cause i needed the frame) a week ago
the frame actually fits me perfectly (58cm) so i bought it from his coworker
and put all my **** on it. the schwinn frame was way too small (53cm)
so im gonna finish putting primer on the schwinn frame (i had it sandblasted and took off the braze ons) and then probably trade it away. im gonna be sandblasting this frame and taking off the braze-ons smooth out the frame and have it repainted maybe powdercoated....i think the color on it looks sexxy so im gonna be keeping that color. it has some rust on it but hopefully that will be taken care of

I bought the frame from the son of the builder, Marcell Mulholland, but the only things he could tell me are that it uses a Zona tubeset and has nice lightweight dropouts. I'm not sure what kind of lugs and dropouts these actually are so if there are any experts that can identify them I'd be grateful! Here are some pics I snapped that don't do justice to the loveley red/bronze fade paintjob and great illuminati-style decals.

All components are stock except for the following:
Fork -- Easton EC30 Carbon w/ 45mm offset (replaces the stock unicrown steel fork w/ 28mm offset)
Stem -- Deda 90mm

Nice Pista, lunacycle.

How do you like that carbon fork so far? Any issues while descending?

Seems like a significant change in the fork rake. How does it handle after the swap?

Thanks, mikeoverly. No, I haven't had any problems at all with the fork -- The handling is quicker, but it's surprisingly stable, at least in my opinion. Admittedly, I didn't put a lot of thought into the handling. I wanted a smoother ride, and I came across this fork on Nashbar for about $80.

Rodador, I rode it out at the Alpenrose Velodrome in Portland last spring, and it handled the rough, steeply-banked (43+ degree) concrete track really well. I figure if it handles well there, it will handle well anywhere. The Easton fork is probably not as stiff as the steel fork -- the carbon blades are awfully thin in the out-of-plane direction, but hey, it's an entry-level bike. When I can afford something more track-worthy, I'll probably get something stiffer, like a Felt TK2, or something similar. :)

Here's my update of El Bastardo...

Frame as it sits...
http://www.endlessearthphoto.com/YOK...s/IMG_7284.jpg
(primed with POR-15 primer and one coat of satin black so far...)

...and yes, I'm keeping the crank arm on for a reason LOL...it makes a great way to handle the bike without getting oils and grease on the frame

and the bars I scrounged up...the Cinelli's are cool, but the stem won't work with my threadless so I'm in search of a stem

I love crested bars. Nice find.

a fellow from the retro forum hooked me up...we're trading some cool stuff lately. I have a bunch of Sakae Road Champion bars and a set of Nittos that are crested, but these Cinelli's are by far a cooler, track-esque shape.

I got impatient and threw as many parts together as I could. I still need to get the frame prepped and the headset and bb installed.

killsurfcity 03-11-06 08:59 AM

that looks sweet. what kind of hubs are those? they look massive.
