Joe - nice work -- the security chain is the most elegant that I've seen. You're fortunate that you have that bridge there since the more rapscallion version is the inner tube wrapped chain style to a seat stay.

Hey Schloe mo
We got cut off yesterday - sorry. As far as the bike goes - it just needs a beer holder OR trailer hitch to haul a cooler around.

easy livin'

yeah i was on the interstate with the windows down, so i couldn't hear **** anyway.

The Carlton is rad - it needs a frame pump/something interesting to fit in the bracket and then it's perfect.

Son of ronex 05-31-06 07:49 PM

that carlton is so f.uc.k off .

chicagoamdream 05-31-06 09:34 PM

Man, that Carlton really would inspire me to find a nice chrome frame to convert. Ahem.

Cogsci and I put together his SlingShot tonight.

The downtube/cable, meant to absorb and return energy normally lost from bumps, does seem to do...something.

Awesome. That is the best worst conversion ever. I bet it's fast as hell.

Wow! I have exactly the same frame but in black and a little bit bigger. Bought it back in 92 I think but now the seattube has a crack down by the bb and I want to fix it and repaint the beauty. Problem is I just can't get the darn glass-fiber-flexy-thing off to separate the two parts. Anyone have an idea on how to do it?

Slingshots make my aesthetic bone hurt.

no worries, some inspired young wrench beat you to it... comes with some serious bling to boot.

seriously, I've been trying to think of something to fit in there. if someone could make me a flask roughly the same dimension as a frame pump, that would awesome.

cogsci 06-01-06 09:06 AM

yes, the slingshot seems fast

650c x 48t x 13t = 90.3
@ 120 rpm = 32.2mph

ImOnCrank 06-01-06 09:23 AM

Are slingshots allowed on tracks? This isn't a snide remark but a question out of curiosity. Assuming that the bike had track ends and met all the component requirements, would a slingshot frame be allowed on a track?

classic1 06-01-06 09:34 AM

No, they don't met UCI regulations

cogsci 06-01-06 09:44 AM

this may be true (they may not be legal)
however, when I spoke to the guy who picks up the phone at Slingshot he said that they did at one point make a few track frames.

pitboss 06-01-06 09:52 AM

what happened to the real track frame cogsci? still at the shop?
