evanyc 08-21-06 08:53 AM

i do think that's a paramount.

evanyc 08-21-06 08:55 AM

and those hubs look kinda like cane creek volos, but with higher flanges, so maybe high flange volos?

mcatano 08-21-06 09:06 AM

They are Chrono track hubs. There's another set on this bike on FGG. I think I read somewhere that Cane Creek lisenced the design?

EDIT: Maybe it's the same wheelset?

trons 08-21-06 09:14 AM

i believe it is the same set

onetwentyeight 08-21-06 09:21 AM

haha. okay

first.... that chrome bike up there looks very much like bakabons paramount. http://velospace.org/node/359

retem: thanks for the tip on the bar wrap. i really am just looking for any excuse to go check out jitensha now that i work in the east bay, as I've never been :)

learnnot2burn, eyefloater: the nipples on the spokes are actually by the hub. the whole point of the design is to eliminate the little bend in the spoke where they normally go into the hubs, as that little j shaped curve is where spokes break the most. So i guess they do need special spokes... i think velocity makes great rims, but aesthetically ive never been a huge fan of deep vs... but this wheel came laced to them and im not about to relace it. plus the front has bladed spokes. ****s expensive!

adampaiva - they are continental sprinter 250s. theyre kinda old. they came with the wheels.

grxnt - i got these wheels from drac_vamp.. he scored them off ebay a few years ago. the way he tols me, they are designed and handbuilt hubs from a company called chronos, who normally made road racing wheels with this design. He was approached to make some track wheels and build these as a protoype. cane creek then licensed his design for the volos. so these hubs are the precursors to the cane creeks...

trons, macatano - exact same set. thats drac vamps bike.

imoncrank - thanks. variety is the spice of life. im really just trying to keep up with that red 3rensho from tokyo that got posted with the streamer paper disc wheel. :P

+1 on that chrome bike being a Paramount. Looks a lot like the 67 Paramount I picked up this weekend. Mine is just a frame and fork right now, so I will just post pics when I get the beauty built up.

LóFarkas 08-21-06 11:18 AM

Tomacropod- sexy bike! What's that saddle?

128-not bad, either :) But whoever built those hot hubs and sexy bladed spokes with friggin' deepvees deserves a slap in the face.

My track bike. Unknown frame, nervex pro lugs, campag drops, fully chrome. Built up with Japanese stuff because I love it. Maxxis re-fuse tyres are the cheapest light, durable tyres around. Lighter ones for the track.

All chrome, Reynolds 531, Nervex lugs (does the BB one say Nervex on the underside?), double crown fork - I have a brother of your bike. Mine still has faded "Polrad" sticker on the down tube.
