did it come with that fork?

12XU 08-19-06 09:54 PM

Hah, Evan your custom frame also came with little to no rake. It's a cute bike and all, but how does it handle on the street?

12xu - it handles great. it's got parallel 73 degree angles so it's very chill geometry overall, so the smaller rake gives it a touch tighter handling than the standard parallel 73 degree road frame but still not as twitchy as most track bikes.

oreganoflow- great looking color scheme. love dem wheels.

spicer, on clearance from spicer's website?

careful with those wheels, they have issues with the lockring threads being on a piece of aluminum that's very thin, and can actually push agains the bearing cartridge when tightened heavely.

Yeah, a lot different from mine (which was built for track usage only), which stands at 74.5 seat, 75 head, 0 rake, 108 mm trail. This essentially means it only handles well at really ****ing top speeds, which was probably a poor decision on my part considering I'm no sprinter.

I put FSA riser bars on (in place of the Nitto Bullhorns) and I swear it increased the street fun factor by 10000000000%:D So so so much fun. Here is a picture of it with the risers and ODI ruffian grips.

Since I robbed the ODI's from another bike in the stable, I found some good replacements at of all places, wally world. I was picking up some KMC chains, and these "West Coast Chopper" gernade grips caught my eye. They are insanely grippy and comfortable, especially for $5. Black would have been nice, but the gray seems to be ok :)

The grips match the IRO sticker. I like.

el twe 08-20-06 01:21 PM

Cut dem risers, stat!

YoKev 08-20-06 01:26 PM

I already cut 2 inches off of each end!

sloppy robot 08-20-06 01:32 PM

wide bars are the ****....2 inches? you blew it

YoKev 08-20-06 01:38 PM

Nah, It's the same width of the bullhorns I took off....23 inches long as it sits, and it rides fine.

humancongereel 08-20-06 01:40 PM

23 inches? holy wow.

YoKev 08-20-06 02:25 PM

Holy wow thats long or holy wow thats short? :)

They seem to be a great fit for my build and the bike handles super (3/4 of my fleet are mtn bikes with much longer risers). Like I said, they are the same width as the bullhorns I that came with it. What length do people usually use? I am new to FG afterall :)

Take care,
Kevin

Retem 08-20-06 03:35 PM

yeah my flat bar is 14in just as wide as my pedals heh great in traffic and I've got oury grips comfy

sloppy robot 08-20-06 04:51 PM

Rossin Fixed Pics

Hi There - First time posting on this thread. Hopefully you can see some pics of my Rossin steel road frame. I bought it years ago, and recently have used it as a roller bike in winter. I set up a gear for the road and took it for a spin. Hope you like it...

Dave
