Speaking of funny bikes, here's the BF debut of one of my commuters:

Black non-machined Aerohead laced to an Eno hub coming soon...

I want to get a pursuit frame and put some big ape hanger bars on it, like an old schwinn sting ray...

this is a conversion i'm working on for my girlfriend's brother. i put my wheelset on it so i could look at what the bike will look like once his wheels arrive.

I love the site and the store but they piss me off by not removing the sold bikes. It gives them the appearance they have way more bikes then they actually do. They have always sucked about updating the web. btw nice score!

ryand 10-06-06 11:29 AM

if it is sold they put sold in the right column, or the name of the person that bought it.

1fluffhead 10-06-06 11:33 AM

Not always. It always seems that every bike I have inquired about from them is always been sold.

donkekus 10-06-06 11:34 AM

Do they generally have good prices there Ryand?

ryand 10-06-06 11:37 AM

it depends on what you're looking for. he knows what things are worth. as it was stated before (probably in another thread) sometimes he seems like he doesn't want to see certain bikes go. he is leaving for a vacation today to visit some fmaily, but next week he will be back in town. if youre emails aren't answered immediately, don't get all IRO on him. (LARRY WON'T ANSWER MY EMAILS, WAHHHH!!!)

he has some spectacular stuff in the collection.

I emailed him awhile back for a quote on a couple of frames in the collection. He was slow to get back to me initially, but once I had his attention he was very quick and informative. I also got the feeling that some bikes were special to him. One that I had my eye on, he said it was only for trade, not cash. And since I'm not sitting on a comparable pile of vintage bikes, it pretty much quashed the deal. Still, it's a fun collection to browse.

zjeim 10-06-06 11:59 AM

Here's my new bike. It's 80's Olmo Sintex, w/Columbus SLX tubing.
Gipiemme hubs & cranks, Mavic open pro rims, Cinelli Pista stem & drops.
Campagnolo headset & seatpost. And of course Turbo. :) I love it!

hilariously, ryand, teadoggg was going to buy that marinoni. he paid for it and everything, but the guy literally couldn't find it and he got tired of waiting and got his money back.

if you paid what he was asking, you got a decent enough deal. it's a pretty nice bike.

ryand 10-06-06 12:02 PM

ha, the guy knew exactly where it was when i emailed him. he brought it out with a witcomb that was too small for me. i test rode both, and decided on the noni. i'm so happy today.

That basically sums up my experience with them which overall was very good. I bought my '68 Paramount from them (although it was originally believed to be a '67). I asked about another Paramount, I believe the 50th Anniversary one, but was told that it was only for trade and, as you, I did not have anything worth even mentioning.
