Your seat stays are bent.

That's some mighty fine photography you've got going on there. Ha, yeah.

Nice looking bike though. What kind of stem is that?

no.. i dont like those either.. but a simple piece of electrical tape seems to do.. i don't get what y'all are up to with the bikes that would dent the top tube.. unless your stacking on the track.. it seems a clean piece of tape does the trick to protect the paint

Funny you should ask-- It's a drop stem (about 65 degrees) made of tange pretige tubing. Not sure who made it, or why, but it's really long (150mm) so it works well when I'm outsprinting you.

Love at first speed...yard sale treasure. Gone is the campy drivetrain. Soon to be gone is the Stronglite Cranks with %^%$ing french peddle threads and the sew-up rims. The only mod so far are the bars. I'm on the fence about the center-pull front brake.

More pictures in my flickr account. Not quite done with it, but close.

How's the saddle treating you?

onetwentyeight 04-17-06 01:53 PM

so far not too bad. I got one of the ones with padding, it feels similar to a selle italia seat. Dubteka rode the same kinda of seat all the way to san jose from SF (55 miles) with no problems. It's deffinately no brooks, but it'll be fine for my regular zippin around the city, I think.

I believe your toe straps are upside down...

Mr. Clean 04-17-06 04:56 PM

A while back I decided to convert my late-'70s Raleigh Competition GS to a fixed gear, and here it is. I wanted to keep the old wheelset just in case I ever decide to bolt all the parts back on, so I just got a new wheelset. I'm running 52x17 because I really liked the three arm crank, and couldn't find a smaller ring that would fit. The handlebar is a Profile Design Airwing, and the saddle is a take-off from my Specialized road bike (though I might go back to the old Cinelli leather saddle).

My first grade class did this bike. They disassembled it on Thursday, painted it on Friday, and built it back up today.

Ok, I did the flat black base, and told them what to wrench and how to do it. And I had to help most of them hold the wrench.

But they did do the colors and most of the wrenching. And the bike was built entirely in my classroom.

hey. if those are TA specialite cranks, i've got a 40t 3/32" chainring for them you can have. my first fixie was a raleigh competition. but the cranks broke, and so i still have the chainrings. 40t and 52t. PM me if you want 'em.
