I picked this bike up for $20 at a garage sale, sold the derailleurs for just under $50 and didn't put another dime into her. Of course I'm only 5'8", she's 61cm, so we're not meant to be.
http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...lla/stella.jpg She's a French-made Stella SX-6 that was upgraded by the original owner with a Sugino VP crankset and BB. The Weinmann centerpull brake is connected to a a Dia-Compe straight lever from the ol' parts bin. Wheels are 27" Nisi Alloy with Atom (R) and Sunshine (F) hubs. Chopped, flopped and wrapped in lawn chair webbing, the original bars are stuffed with wine corks. Ghetto with just a hint of white-trashiness. Watch for her on eBay or CraigsList! |
sweet. got a larger photo?

Mah new rig. A lot of fun so far. Didn't like the stock handlebars (moustache) so I took a hacksaw to some old steel drops that I had. Maybe I'll get some real bullhorns some time.
So far the only changes that I've made other than the bars are removing the rear brake, fenders and chain protector (I won't be commuting for a while) and putting on Shimano SPD pedals. I went on a 35 mile ride on it yesterday, had never done a fixed ride longer than 10 miles or so before (I only had homemade bum bikes with suicide hubs...and didn't want to take them far from home :>), and man, it was fun. My knees still hurt though. http://static.flickr.com/91/236000673_b64941cf78.jpg http://static.flickr.com/98/236000670_9b1cec0066.jpg |

Here are some photos of my new Colnago Master Competition conversion. It was built mostly out of used, NOS, and from my parts bin parts. Only the BB, cranks, and PowerGrips were bought new. Thanks to all that helped answer my questions.

Poor Colnago... You have that great frame, nice wheels, and you ruin the whole build with a disgusting handlebar tilted in an alien angle, a very silly mirror and an even sillier brake lever. If you can even reach that brake lever then the frame is a good couple of sizes too small.
I weep for that bike... |

I weep for that bike... I could careless about your stupid sense of fashion. I ride what I like and what's comfortable. Eff anyone who wants me to conform to their sense of what's right for a cycle. |
Damn that Colnago would make a beautiful geared bike. whatever keeps you on the bike and out riding though.
