Same author, but this one's called Cursing in America.

This is my first Fixed Gear bike after having commuted on a converted mountainbike singlespeed monster that I call "bruiser" for the last year and putting about 4000 miles on my new fancy road bike. I'm loving the fixed ride. It's already pointed me at a couple of flaws in my spin on the road bike, so that's a plus. I'm not entirely sure of the components here other than MKS pedals, Campy headset, Cinelli stem and Bulletproof cranks. I'm currently riding it brakeless, but I've got to throw a brake on there, pronto.

It's got a number of scrathes on the downtube. I emailed Tony to ask what color I should look for in touchup pain and he said to get 1970 Plymouth Voyager. The problem is that I can find two shades of orange that might match for that year - Burnt Orange and Vitamin C. Anyone know for sure which one it is?

email him again ??

Well I finally finished rebuilding the Fuji I bought a couple of months ago. I built so my son and I can ride on the same playing field. On my Tarmac if forget he can't ride as fast and I tend to speed up, now if I go to fast I just spin. Oh yeah if anyone has an old set of cranks that you like to get ride of PM me. Enjoy the pics

Alright, I have been holding out on everyone, since I didn't want to show the frame until it was looking good, but here are some pictures of my winter project.

In the beginning:

In the late March sun:

Trying to show the nice color changing sparkle coat:

It should be all ready to go in a few short weeks.

You want it like that? Click the button that has a mountain above the text box.

(EDIT: Nevermind, I can't get the picture to work either!)

The Fuji looks nice. I did a search and everyone seemed to like their Sagres'.

nayr- The purple looks real good. I would recommend pinstriping around the lugs in yellow[edit: ooh or blue would look good], but either way it looks nice

Edit: lemme try then-

ah, its a dynamic image location. Because the location of the image doesn't end in .jpg or .png or .gif or whatever, and just has a bunch of numbers you cant hotlink the image. You have to host it somewhere else to post it in here. I'll do that for ya.

3Lph 03-25-07 09:34 PM

Nayr's bike pix, rehosted

3Lph: Thank you very much for the help & hosting. That was fast too.

Thanks for the compliments as well. Some lug outlining would be nice, but the purple is such a bright color I think I am going to stick with the monotone look. Plus, the sparkle is really pretty nice looking in person and in the sun, so I think the lug work would be too much. And, I will be giving it a little bit more color via the parts/components and if forum members know anything, it is how to avoid over-sexying a bike, right?

This is in fact a rain bike. Contrary to the fibbers around here! Purple rain is the working title. I dig Prince & share a birth date with that small man who packs a whole lot of sexy into his frame:)

Looks great Ryan!

Hey if you get tired of dicking about with free image hosts you might want to see whether your ISP has free webspace available or if there is any you get as a member of some institution (work? school?). I get mine from my university and it always works frawressry. To start hosting images this way you will need to figure out a program that does ftp (there are lots). It's slightly tricky for noobs and super easy afterwards.

I dig this bike a lot. Quite a lot. What year is it?

Eric Hanus 03-25-07 10:43 PM

octico ----

how do you like that Fuji? ive got a fuji del rey and im about to convert it to either a SS or a fixed. How was the process for you? The bikes seem to be pretty similar. I know mine has a larger frame with 27" wheels. Any tips?

Thanks! I'm not sure - the original owner said he bought the frame new last July, so it's probably either a 2006 or 2005, I'm guessing. If there's a way to tell by closer inspection, let me know!

Sweet paint job. Where do you guys get the colored chains? I'm not sure how I feel about them just yet, but I'd like to know where to get one!

Any place that sells BMX stuff should have them.

The paint is red but looks pink in direct light. The chain is KMC -- you can get 'em online, or, as the person above me said, probably is most BMX shops.
