Not mine, but I felt I should share.

Wow! Where did you find them!! Never heard of Kasuga. Are they made in Kasuga?

No idea. I linked the image to the guy's flickr. Drop him a line (or, if you don't have flickr, ask me to and I will).

Just checked out the Flickr site - the guy's got a Mavic IO front wheel. Makes me kinda sad to see such a good wheel being used on the street - there's hundreds of kids trying to make national teams who could really use that wheel as it's meant to be used. The guy must be loaded to ride on a 2K wheel.

I saw a courier here in Tokyo riding Zipp 808s the other day - beautiful wheels (laced to Dura-Ace hubs) but why use them day to day?

Yeah, whatever it takes to make the job bearable is ok in my book

He owns Shop Gentei, a clothing/fixed gear shop somewhere near Virginia or DC (I don't remember exactly). Has --or has had-- some nice bikes. Was at the Pillage race a few weeks ago; speaks pretty good Japanese from what I can tell.

what does that even mean and how does it have anything to do with oldsprinter's argument that you are wasting high performance parts both by inflating the price of them and trashing them. Is there some reason spending more time on your bike then you do at home means you should do incredibly impractical things that endanger you in an urban environment, are less durable, cost more, and have almost no benefit outside the bounds of conspicuous consumption and force people who actually could benefit from said item and not trash it to go without?

Are there really any actual messengers who work day in and out on zipp 808s or mavic ios? The only people I have seen do stupid **** like that are kids that have more money than sense and a strong desire to let everyone know that.

freebird 04-06-07 08:06 AM

Shut up.

Do you really have nothing better to do with your time.

Dutret, you either have an incredibly finely honed sense of irony, or you are indeed the idiot that you appear.

freeskihp 04-06-07 08:18 AM

I think people are just going against dutret because the fact that it is dutret, but I definately agree with him on the fact that there is no point in wasting massive amounts of $ on track only wheels just to trash them on the street, as well as rasing the price for anybody who actually wanted to race with them. A classic example are the HED.3s, they used to be incredibly cheap but recently have skyrocketed in value

You should have ended your sentence with a question mark.

And disc wheels. Lovely carbon fiber disc wheels being used for skid competitions!

there is a huge difference between having pointless arguments on the internet and correcting peoples grammar in pointless arguments on the internet. I in fact do not have anything better to do but i have yet to sink quite that low.

I was correcting your spelling, not your grammar.

However, it's people's grammar, not peoples.

That guy's dumb. Where in Baltimore is Shop Gentei? Never heard of it. Though the name would make it sound like "Shop Hentai" if you said it with a speech impediment.

you and dutret need to make love together.

it might take away your nastiness...
a little anal love might be the thing you and dutret need to find true happiness.
