After a nice long season of snowboarding, finally got this together. Replaced the Suntour Pro tubulars with the bontager from ebay, the 420 is off my road bike(so it goes in and out of my truck bed rack easy) Had Johnny Cycles make me a fork with enough clearence for a brake.

those incredibly burly track ends are actually the appropriate size for your bike. (unlike mine) |
It will be up for sale, so I guess this is a bit of promotion. But it's still my bike, and I am very proud of this build!
'07 Fetish Cycles "ATTACK" Track/SS frame. Early Dura-Ace Cranks in Original GOLD! Gold Chris King headset was not compatible, so adapters were custom-machined from billet aluminum, and painted gold. The spacers and Cross/Disc fork raise the front end nicely, sort of a classic, long-head tube look. Black Brooks Leather Saddle, Bag, and bar-wrap. http://web.mac.com/zoescustoms/iWeb/...s/CRW_2398.jpg www.zoescustoms.com |
That is so ugly. "Gaudy" doesn't really do it for me...
|
Are you selling that because it's too atrocious to look at anymore?
|
Geez. This is why I usually stay away from these forums. All the stylistic judgements and pontification must turn a lot of people off to cycling. I don't want anything I build to look like anything else.
I think that brown and red one (above) is wonderful. I just like mine with a little more 'SHINE' I take these things too far, but they are all beautiful in their own way. Gaudy? Yes, absolutely. Ugly? That's an opinion. I'm just building art-bikes that actually PERFORM. (The silly bottles come right off kids!) What's wrong with FUN??? |

rather steep seat tube on the eimei, isnt it?

Thanks bbattle, I think all of these bikes are great. Pink and yellow has always been one of my favorite combos. I hope more people will have the stones to put wild fixie-pics up, that's what this thread is for right? If I'm all by myself in wanting to be different and original, I'll happily disappear.

Taking offense to a criticism about your bike on the interwebs sort of defeats the purpose of "wanting to be different and original" IMHO

I have no idea what it is but I keep coming back to look at this bike. It is incredibley elegent, very well done. Whats the frameset? Whats the size, it looks really small? Bravvvvo. after riding it for over 4 years i finally found out what it is. my friend who i got it from just told me it is a Winner that was made in Italy back in the 80's. when i picked it up he told me it was a de rosa but wasn't too sure. on a recent trip to italy he ran into someone at a shop that had the same exact frame. The frame is marked as a 50 center to center which really is small for me but with a longer stem i made it work. i'm 5'9" and ride a 54 road bike but with the longer stem i felt right at home. i managed to somehow bend the steertube and fork legs out further than they already were so while i save up to get the fork reconstructed and a fresh coat of paint on the frame i picked up a fuji track pro. im not too fond of it but and am already having problems with the crank. FSA did a really crappy job with their spider/arm interface and there is play right out of the box. i hope to not be on this bike for too long. http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...f/4b04e9f1.jpg |

yeah if you are really doing it right no one will like your bikes till after you die |
the one thing that gets me about the gilded-fetish is the fact that there are like 5 different shades of gold on there so it just looks odd, if everything was ano'd the same colour then it wouldn't look as wierd. That is just my opinion though

Then again, I think earrings, Pollock paintings, and ankle socks are ugly, too. Really, though, if you're going for an aesthetic outside the 'mainstream' you should be prepared to find people who don't appreciate it. edit: I've decided it's the disc brake (its look, not its presence) that makes it the worst. |

I am constantly incredulous that people spend tons of time and
money tricking out their bike, then they post it on the internet, and when the response isn't entirely favorable, they lash out. What the hell did they expect to happen? |
|
ummm no
