Yeah that's the Ugliest Duck I've ever seen... :(

But I dig the Canondale. You should call it "Orange Crush"

Yeah playa. It actually just won best in show at the Boston bike show. I LOVE this bike, it has more carbon fiber than anything I've ever seen in my life! The gucci paint scheme was all hand crafted, and the whole bike was disassembled so the chassis could be chrome dipped. Big bore kit on the engine, CF wheels, etc, etc. Unfortunately, it's not mine!!!! It's a very good friend of mine's who shall remain nameless. Anyways..... too much motorcycle talk.... how's my c-dale********** :p

Excellent bike.

The stem is the stock 100mm one that comes from Tony at IRO. The bars are a sweet set of black Aluminum mtn. bike bars I pulled from the local bike co-op for 6 bucks and chopped down three inches on each end. They're really stiff now. I think I'm hooked on riser bars, the bike is so controllable and quick handling with them, plus I can climb hills really well. I had drops on it for a few days and just felt kinda outta control with them.

Thanks for the compliments. :D

yeah i like your risers, they are really addictive once you start riding them, i've got some easton risers that i chopped 6 inchs off of each side on...they are way narrow and perfect.

I wouldn't knock strapless clips unless you've tried them. And I'm not talking about clips that you removed the straps out of, I'm talking about specially designed strapless clips. And thanks for the heads-up on the brakes.

ok, in order to get people to stop bugging me, i will post this. Jon K took these photos. I have no build photos yet, since i'm a lazy drunken (sleepy) wandering travelling fool.

the final version. i told you i'd do it.

Yeah you should get an award on fgg alright. For gayest bike ever. It looks like that bike got sh*t out by a goddamned rainbow and then dipped in steaming vat of ugly. Fantastic.

Chimbly why so many headset spacers on a custom frame?

caloso 03-08-06 05:29 PM

Mike552, did you use an ENO hub or is that a magic gear conversion?

Mike552 03-08-06 05:52 PM

HA-HA!!! You noticed the vertical drops.... nice. No ENO hub here... all magic. 40x14 = 75 Gear inches.

caloso 03-08-06 05:57 PM

Nice. I'm loving my old Trek conversion but the frame is a bit small so I'm going to try a little magic on a vertical drop roadie. That ENO hub is sweet but I can't justify the cash. So, I measured, plugged the numbers into the magic gear calculator, and ordered the cog and half-link from Harris.

lotsa custom frames come with long steertubes on the forks so you can dial in the fit just-so. if you can't be at the builder's for a post build fitting, it lets you play around a little.

ImOnCrank 03-08-06 07:53 PM

Word. Now i guess the next question is, why the threadless on such a nice bike?

jitensha! 03-08-06 07:57 PM

it's not threadless.

ImOnCrank 03-08-06 08:01 PM

word, i need to drink less and sleep more.

screamingveg 03-08-06 09:56 PM

I still haven't seen the crayola bike out on the town yet, Shants. Granted, I don't see you around much, but when am I gonna get to see it up close and personal like?

I thought I'd show you all my new frame. Its a Cyclops 58cm track frame hand made in Ontario from Columbus tubes. I'm not sure when this frame was built as it is NOS, but from the looks of it I would say early 90's... I bought the frame from the son of the builder, Marcell Mulholland, but the only things he could tell me are that it uses a Zona tubeset and has nice lightweight dropouts. I'm not sure what kind of lugs and dropouts these actually are so if there are any experts that can identify them I'd be grateful! Here are some pics I snapped that don't do justice to the loveley red/bronze fade paintjob and great illuminati-style decals.

ha! I almost bought that frame back in November. The TT was too short for my liking.
I've ridden Cyclopses before at the track. You've got a nice frame there.
