I was referring to the soma :D

in all honesty, i'm pretty stoked about how that worked out functionally - aside from the hilarity of it. i needed to have the bars a bit lower because the top tube is short and i didn't want to be too upright. i could have gone with flat bars and a regular stem, but i like the slightly angled hand position that the risers gives me. the totally straight hand position on the flat bars annoys the **** out of me. also, flat bars are ugly.

I love the Major Taylors. todays ride was pretty short and casual, but I rode them on my last bike. They are mondo stiff, great for climbing, and I fnd the shape quite comfy. It's better with the tape wrapped like it is now I can get a good grip on the shoulders.

His only stipulation when he gave it to me was, put a front brake it or he wouldn't let me bring it to Brooklyn. I gladly scrounged around his attic (the Fort Knox of bicycle parts) and came up with a 1940's era black Schwinn brake. Also up there I found some back Mathauser shoes for the brake, the old Super Champion 700C's, the white Hutchinson tires, and the Wrights swallow saddle (the original Brooks was way too soft and cracked). Everything else came original on a 1940's Schwinn Paramont. Ride it daily.

That bike is great! I love the bars and stem. I love that the parts are all period correct, and the condition of the finish is also period correct. It's nice to see an old bike that looks like it's been used as a bike for much of it's life instead of being collected and displayed like a museum piece.

Shants, Stop being a ***** and get a different color wheel. Front or Rear, I don't care. You are ruining the whole bike with the matching wheel ****. Idiot.

Hey shants, I still have a rainbow chain that I only rode for a few weeks. If you'd like it for that bike, lemme know.
I love it

Flat bars are available with sweep.

Deep drop stems and risers are utterly useless.
