Sorry for the brake and computer, set up for a TT at the moment, when set up for pursuit it gets a track fork and loses the computer.

Yeah, they really are. The way they bend at the top is super comfy to ride, and riding them right up next to the stem is really nice too.

why are some forks turned around on old bikes like the burgundy bike? is it for quicker handle?

Though it doesn't really specify if the chain had much to do with the record breaking. His basic point is that if you were to keep the same diameter cog but run a smaller pitch than 1/2", you would be able to have more teeth. More teeth means better efficiency. But that means the overall diameters of the chainring and cog would be the same, but the tooth count would be different. so a 46/13 in 1/2" pitch would feel the same as 46/13 in 10mm pitch. the benefit would be gained if you went to 58/16 which have the same diameter as 46/13 in 1/2" pitch and be approx. the same gear ratio.

As for the shimano stuff, I don't have any direct knowledge of the history of it, so I'll leave that to the others.

Introduced in 1976, and discontinued some time in the 80s, Dura-Ace 10 used a smaller chain and therefore smaller chainrings and sprockets - the number of teeth was the same, but they were closer together. The big advantage was lower weight, and eventually, according to legend, the Japanese kierin federation banned the 10mm pitch equipment because it might give some riders an unfair advantage.

We have a full set here at the shop(black sheep cycles), ill try to find a pic later.

that's a stayers bicycle. the flopped fork is used to that they can ride very closely to the motorized pace vehicles used in stayers races.

They're for motor-paced racing where the cyclist drafts behind a guy riding a specially designed motorcycle. The smaller front wheel and the fork being the way it is allows the cyclist to get as close as possible to the the derny to get in the slipstream as much as possible.
