I love that Pista! All it needs is less bar (chopped more) (in my opinion), and a BRAKE! But seriously, I love it.

i'm new here but everytime i see one of your posts the word "BRAKE!" is mentioned...what's up with that?

Did you have a bad experience?

Thanks!
I'd chop the bars more but i like the ammount of leverage i have with them at the current length. had a brake, got around to the point where i hadn't used it in over a month, even on the big hills around these parts, so i'm going for it sans brake. Yes, this could end up being a very bad idea, but I consider myself a pretty safety conscious person, and I feel good about this decision. The brake did look good on the risers though.

The first pic of it is when I first owned it & built it up.

Now, what should I do? Campy? DA? Some phils? Suntour? Hmmm...

It bugs me to no end that you can't get the Giant track frameset in the US.

kyle (at first i typo'd and had "kyke" -- figured that wouldn't go over too well, though), nice to see that you went with the zen ring. what ratio did you go with on that? hopefully that's a 47 ring.

teadoggg 01-11-06 10:57 AM

you gaywads and your ugly ass zen rings! yeck!

The Zen is the only way to make your ____ stand out in this vast sea of Sugino 75's. And boy do I like to stand out. 49/18

shants 01-11-06 11:06 AM

49x18 - **** yes. i love it. my ratio of choice.

benny 01-11-06 11:52 AM

I like the zen ring! looks good!

Serendipper 01-11-06 12:46 PM

Two more dope-ass Pistas! I wonder if the pista hater trend will reverse for '06.

ha.

shants 01-11-06 12:57 PM

i'm pretty sure that kyle's is his bridgestone. those are definitely shimano track ends.

chicagoamdream 01-11-06 01:33 PM

Finally, I've got some quality photos of the new ride, where the orange looks orange (not rust-colored).

Early '90s Porter track frame made of Columbus PL with Cinelli lugs and Shimano track ends. Campagnolo Chorus headset, Shimano Ultregra BB, Sugino 75 crankset (167.5) with Crank Bros. Eggbeater Cs, Ofmega 44t chainring, KMC chain, no-name stem and Nitto B123s with white Velox tape. Kalloy seatpost and white Selle Turbo saddle.

The rims are Deep Vs, obviously, laced to a Surly in the front and a Phil rear. Prior to this day, that Phil was fixed/fixed, but at the time this picture was taken, it was (and continuest to be) fixed/stripped. Alas.

Thanks to absntr and his Nikon for the pics.

Thanks! Yep, she's a beauty. I bought the frame off of eBay...you can find a little back and forth between me and Ceya in the eBay/CL thread about it if you go back about four months.

Porters have awesome decals. The bottom sheet in this picture would have been what were on this frame originally.

the early stuff was not njs, but it's my understanding that they got certification a year or two before they pulled the plug on the whole thing.

there's a 10 pitch poster floating around somewhere that shows road compenents too, but i don't think they ever went into production.

"1976
The Dura-Ace 10 components, featuring a new 10mm chain pitch standard, are introduced for track racing bikes. Shimano-sponsored track racer John Nicholson of Australia captures the World Champion Match Sprint title."

There is, indeed, a poster about it, but I can't found it anymore. There were a few racing teams (also in europe) who ride races at such bikes. A man I know here in arnhem did.

Clean and classy. Is that Cinelli a dark shade of red? I've seen the regular Olympics in a bright red but never that darker shade. It's quite nice.

I thought sh*tty spelling was the new black? Nooge. If that's true do I get ahead of the trend hipster points? Hopefully I can cash em in for a case of PBR when I get back to the states.

Anyways, that is a sick bike. All you need is some grey now and we can throw down the two tone ride. Beautiful build man.
