love the romani, especially that stem. I love the old style... The frame gold chrome is rediculous, hope I can see it in person some day.
and in regards to riding in sf, go around them, learn the valleys. It's not that bad. |
The Romani and Level are incredible looking bikes. The Romani's color reminds me of the vintage Vitus frames the KAS team used to ride. Damnn fine.

yeah i think some more pictures that really show off the color of the romani is a must!
|
i would love to see pics of the hand done leather grips as well

Ok, so my new winter ride is now pretty much finished...
http://www.werstnet.com/site_images/..._8_06/fuji.jpg http://www.werstnet.com/site_images/...hainline_1.jpg http://www.werstnet.com/site_images/...ower_grips.jpg http://www.werstnet.com/site_images/...ront_wheel.jpg It's pretty amazing - that's a 700x42c on the front! I've had the tire for over a year, and never had a bike that would fit it. I need to adjust the power grips - I thought that they'd work with my boots and my brother gave them to me for my birthday yesterday, but the steel toes don't quite fit. Most of the parts are spares that I had lying around. I got the frame as a trade for a cheap MTB threadless stem, so it's pretty much free. Best of all, now that I have this one totally put together, I can put all the good stuff on the Bianchi and have two rides :D I need to get a different stem - this one is the original from the Bianchi, and it fits OK, but not perfect. The length is OK, but I'd like to raise it a little, but there's no more height left. The headset needs replaced, too, and I need to get a lot smaller chainring. 46x16 is a bit much for a winter ride, but it's the only 144mm BCD ring that I have. I'm probably also going to get a front brake. I had the first ride on the knobbies last night, and it was great. So much nicer going over bumps in the road than the 23c's that I had been running... |

Awesome. I love a nasty take-no-prisoners frankenbike. It's like driving a 1985 Crown Vic. Nobody's gonna F with that.
I'm not surprised you could squeeze in the 700x42. That thing was designed for 27x1-1/4" plus fenders. The joys of a all-rounder geometry. What is it, an old S-12S? |

I forgot that I was going to change the decal... Maybe I'll get around to that tomorrow... |

the hand-laced grips are just some perforated leather that i got at a market, cut to size and laced on the bottom side with fishing-line. they used to match the perf'd san marco rolls saddle that used to be on there... s.f.'s not too bad with the hills. it's all about timing intersections and 'riding through', i guess. the knees Do begin to feel it though. i'm just visiting my sis for the holidays --i live in amsterdam, actually, where it's nothing but flat. here's another bike of mine that calls holland home: http://www.fixedgeargallery.com/2005/jan/chow10.htm any s.f. riders wanna meet up to ride, i'm on the street everyday. please pm me for my number and we'll def go ride! see ya on the street! |
