formula buys diacompe hubs and sells them for half the price huh, when formula hubs where around quite a bit before the gran compe hubs showed up?

Ok, so I am trying to decide between the Miche Primato hubs or the Dia Compe Gran Compe hubs? At this point, which would you choose? The Dia Compe's are only $30 more than the Miche Primato hubs.

Do you like the Gran Compes? From just holding the hub in my hand and spinning it, it seems to spin pretty well. I am just having a hard time telling the difference between the quality of the Gran Compe hubs and the Miche Hubs.

as you're probably noticing, when you're dealing with anything mid-range or higher -- especially with cartridge bearing hubs -- most hubs have pretty solid bearings. the main differences between hubs are really going to be in strength, weight, and aesthetics. nicer hubs will have better cog and lock ring threads, and will be stronger (better turning, cnc, etc) and/or lighter than their counterparts. if your primary concern is rolling resistance, you could really just put ceramic bearings in a formula hub.

you think a factory as big and as experienced as formula can't make a hub like gran compe's?

I'm fairly sure Dia Compe would keep things in the family and use Suzue's tooling to make their hubs as opposed to having Formula do it. Think about it. Back in the day, Suntour was affiliated with all these different Japanese companies who weren't named Shimano - including Dia Compe, who did the brakes for the Suntour groups, and Sansin, who made the legendary hubs. Suntour went down, Sansin's hub tooling went to Suzue, Suzue went down, where do you think it went after that?
This is all pure conjecture of course.

oh my god. why is everyone so unwilling to believe that gran compes use formula hub shells?
your whole **** about suzue tooling is completely wrong- gran compe hub shells have a ridge over the spoke holes (https://www.businesscycles.com/graphi...b-diacompe.jpg) whereas promax hubs do not (i have a set in front of me + https://www.businesscycles.com/graphics/thub-promax3.jpg). spoke hole diameters do not match either.
soil sampler posted these: https://www.ison-distribution.com/iso...trk-rr-dwg.jpg & https://www.ison-distribution.com/iso...trk-ft-dwg.jpg
which are the specs for the gran compes. at least 2 of the measurements - pcd (62) and flange diameter (71.5) match formulas as given on formulahub.com (track -> th50, th52) and i am willing to bet that the other dimensions match as well (don't have any formulas layin around and i can't find the measurements online anywhere). anyone care to measure?
