yeah ya know not so much a fan of strap ons... I just think the half clips are nice, I don't ride in traffic much basically just suburbia, I don't do tricks, I just ride for the fun of it.

The crank I got for about $150 but I'm sure it can be had for less.

Someone close this thread and throw his post in the Post Your Fixed/SS thread. Generic bikes belong there.

A+ for the most generic bike I have seen in a while and A+ for the sheer jackassery that makes you think your bike needs its own thread

nice job there with the self gratification, narcissism, and egoism

Bikes: nice Raleigh roadbike and an S&M BMX

Wow, this is some scary stuff going on in here. I like your bike too and I understand your not needing a full strap. Seeing as you are running two brakes you should be able to provide more than enough stopping power without them...and if you were interested in a slightly more efficient power input you might be more interested in straps, but if that's the case you might as well go whole hog and go clipless but i digress. Sweet bike man, it looks like you have it set up well for your uses and i hope it serves ya well.

Bikes: All have flats.

LIke a bunch of vultures feeding on the half-dead, the North American Fix Gear Hipster herd swarms over the helpless bike. pecking it to death with criticisms, and shallow comments disguised as sardonic wit.

If you'd had let the furry thread go on a bit longer, I'm sure it would have eventually gone there.

Wow you kids realy don't like my bike huh? Is it the fact that it's not a schnazzy onversion with a bandanna on the seat? or perhaps it dooesn't have 'true' flip n' chops? Strap ons? Don't hold back people. You love that Kyoto Loco Crank. I got it in red so it would stand out... kinda like gold fronts on Lil John. And so far I heve not had a problem with my power output riding strapless. SO for all of you regular riders try strapless, it may be all you need.

dear robbiedob,

they're called straps, not strap ons. a strap on is a sex toy, usually worn by a woman to make it seem as if she has a penis. a strap, in this context, keeps the foot secured by eliminating lateral motion and is to be used with a clip. also, we don't like your cranks. not even a little. and: please don't say schnazzy. it's not a real word.

my appologies conor. i know what straps are, and what they are used for. I wonder how in my younger years I ever survived riding a bike without any straps or clips... just platform pedals....

I believe this is the first post in which you correctly refer to them as straps instead of "strap ons" which which might lead some to assume you don't know too much about them...

Have you ever used straps? Just curious because, though I originally disliked the idea, after I actually tried them, I found that they are very much an improvement over platforms even though I do have brakes. However, if you have tried them and do not feel that they are the best choice for the riding you do then more power to you...
