As to my beverage of choice: either a brandy old-fashioned sweet (have to be from Wisconsin and be polish to understand) or Newcastle/Smithwicks.

At 30 I had my first professional MMA fight in Japan, ran my first half marathon, and began biking seriously.
My girlfriend is 5 years younger than I am and is wonderfull, and I am in better shape and happier now that I am 31 than ever before in my life. I feel like I am only just starting to understand what life is all about, and I feel more enrgized and aware than ever before.
A healthy human should live in prime health for about 120 years, then rapidly decline and die.
we arent numbers, after all....

26??---Enjoy your last 4 years of youth---life sucks when you hit 30. Its like hitting a brick wall or something. You instantly become "old." Knees start to hurt. College girls start looking like jailbait; all the single women your age are divorced or have kids or have things you don't want------not a pretty picture.

I'm A LOT faster at 35 than I was when I was in my 20s. Most cyclists make huge power gains well into their 30s, and keep said gains into their 50s, and 60s.

If your knees are hurting you need to look at how you're training. Train smarter and you'll be able to ride harder.

At 23 I'm proud to say I don't most of the bands on MTV or VH1. If your that well known theres a 80-90% chance that you totally suck.

Big usually means bad.

Everybody has heard of Budweiser and it sucks. Get yourself some Founders.

That is somewhat true for me as well. After starting to exercise again five years ago, and having completely quit smoking last April, I feel much more healthier than I did in my 20s and I am a lot less heavy. That being said, I also feel like my body is paying me back for all the abuse it went through in my 20s.

Agreed for the most part. The Bosstones and RBF rocked even though they had a couple of vids in the summer of 96.

climbhoser 02-19-08 01:58 PM

You guys remember the old Van Halen video for "Jump?"

That was awesome.

jmichaeldesign, are you saying Britney Spears' video "Toxic" implies she makes bad music? Ok, well, maybe, but that frikkin' skin suit in that viddy was AWESOME! Even old guys can be dirty ;)

Kind of. But I do remember how excited I was when you could get A&W rootbeer in a store. And I remember when they came up with "new coke" and got rid of the old formula until the nation rebelled.

Sixty Fiver: I thought you were 65! What's behind the user name?

By 25 you have nothing figured out---I mean total cluelessness---but you have no awareness of this fact.

By 35 you become aware of the fact that you have nothing figured out, but have no remedy for the situation.

(knowing is still a big plus)

By 45, you have begun to figure it out, but now you are almost halfway through life, and some of the things you have figured out don't matter as much as they used to.

By 55, you buy a really fast red something and get a girl at least half our age. Bingo...you are clueless again.

By 65, you have it mostly figured out, and things start to matter again---the things that you abandoned in your mid-life crisis.

By 75 (congrats for making it this far), you really don't give a damn what anyone thinks. You are free.

By 85, you are surprised/happy to be here.

By 95, you have forgotten most of what you learned---the things that brought you so much pain and angst--, yet you have retained all that is important to you. Bliss.

Growing old ain't so bad when you think about it.

That was awesome.

Remember when David Lee Roth left Van Halen and you thought like the earth had stopped spinning?

Remember when like Michael Jackson made that video where he jumped on the car, grabbed his crotch and broke out all the windows?----that rocked

Remember when your mother grounded you for watching the video of "I touch myself" on MTV but then you snuck out of your bedroom at night and stuck a fork in the cable box to watch soft porn on showtime??

cosmo starr 02-19-08 02:55 PM

Wow, really? I enjoyed 30 and didn't really quite know who I was until I was 29 or so. I have always been in pretty good shape but I was my fittest at age 32 or so. Yes, college-age girls are too young but late 20s girls are where it is at anyway---it is awesome to have an incredible/intelligent coversation for hours with a woman and then jump into bed. I am turning 36 in March and don't feel old at all.

I remember when....you just summed up my youth!

My pops brought "Thriller" home from Japan before it was released here in the states. The box didn't have a lick of English on it, but the whole movie was done in English, no dubbing or subtitles.

I remember Go-Bots and the original Transformers, too. Oh, and Thundercats and He-Man. I'm not even old yet. According to one poster here, I'm at the downturn: 28. I feel old when I find out some of my co-workers haven't even heard of Jack Kerouac or The Kinks.

This thread makes me feel young at 20. Granted most people think I'm at least 22 and are shocked when i tell them I'm only a sophomore. Thank you beard for allowing me to drink in bars and buy my own booze since i was 18!
