Ripoff Run ins

So me and my friend are sitting in a coffeshop today, and he notices someone messing with our bikes outside. We watch as some G in ultra baggy pants unties the bandanna from the stem and walks off. My friend sprinted outside and got it back...
Cmon man, on easter? I mean I'm not religious, but still. And for a $2 bandanna? Sheesh.
My friends also took my handlebars off one night when my bike was parked downtown on a busy night. I thought they had actually gotten ripped off
Anyone else have rip off stories/stealing stories?

Zombie Carl 03-23-08 12:11 PM

I take bandanas off of people's bikes as well. Good to know you guys are bummed out on it.

kemmer 03-23-08 12:14 PM

I steal spoke cards from my friends bikes and put them on my bike. It's funny. I always put them back if they don't realize who took them and steal them back themselves, mainly cause I don't want to ride around with spokecards.

Peedtm 03-23-08 12:15 PM

I steal hearts. Owww!

StabsAll 03-23-08 12:20 PM

There's "G"'s in Nebraska?

SuperVillain 03-23-08 12:21 PM

My wife likes to put our chihuahua in a fake Louis Vuitton bag, set it on a bench, and watch it from across the street. Sure enough, someone walks by, stops and look around, picks up the bag, then drops it quickly when the dog starts barking. By this time my wife walks up and says, "I see you met my dog!" and they usually laugh nervously and walk away quickly.

Depends on where you are in Nebraska, but yes.

Hardly a 'G' if his friend ran him down and got it back.

hudsong 03-23-08 12:51 PM

Wannabe G then.

BRANDUNE 03-23-08 12:56 PM

Maybe he was a lower case g then

mander 03-23-08 12:57 PM

I think Jesus used that G to send you an easter message.

shasta 03-23-08 01:20 PM

When I was in middle school someone stole my dice valve caps.

zelah 03-23-08 01:45 PM

don't fly colors you don't rep, son

AZKakaAZK 03-23-08 01:49 PM

I_luv_hooters 03-23-08 02:16 PM

ummm its called "flair" , get some! you know, spoke cards, bandannas, toptube pads....

andre nickatina 03-23-08 02:21 PM

i've got spoke cards as memorabilia of past alleycats raced.

i think we all agree top tube pads took a turn for the downtrend somewhere near the middle to end of '07.

bandannas... always an easy target to lampoon on, never anything to dress your bike up with.

if you want flair... get streamers.

666pack 03-23-08 02:21 PM

one time i bid on a sick iron maiden "fear of the dark" tour shirt on ebay. it turned out to be a cheap bootleg ripoff, and i paid $45 for it.
but yeah, if you ride around with a bandana tied onto your stem you deserve to have it stolen. you have pockets for that kind of lame hipster ****.

You know, the Nazis had pieces of flair that they made the Jews wear...

...if you're buying tour shirts on ebay for tours you didnt goto you deserve to pay $45 for a isht ripoff of a isht band. If you actually went to the tour and failed to buy a shirt...still...

ok first off: iron maiden is not a **** band... so get your facts straight cheif.
second off: how was i supposed to get a shirt from that tour? i was six.
third off: iron maiden is awesome.
fourth off: it was listed as "genuine iron maiden tour shirt" so tell me who's at fault there.

kyle! 03-23-08 03:19 PM

sometimes bootleg shirt can be way cool. i got this *****in' master of puppets shirt from tijuana when i was in 6th grade and wore straight until somewhere in high school.

666pack 03-23-08 03:20 PM

oh yeah, i still wear the shirt. it looks awesome in a cartoony kind of way.

kyle! 03-23-08 03:26 PM

yeah they have a charm about them, don't they? god i wish i could've taken some pictures of those shirts i got. i had this one metallica shirt that said their name in huge neon orange lettering and had some old weird pic of them where cliff's misfits tat was the only think with color on it. to top it off it was an all over print shirt. crazy.

ps, on a side note, i really wish i'd bought those sepultura sweats when i was young. do bands still even make sweats anymore?

AZKakaAZK 03-23-08 03:30 PM

my little brother makes toys for a living and every time we are in china he picks up all the most recent bootlegs of his toys. kinda fun.

on a side note: iron maiden kicks ass. i still have my shirt from their 1984 world slavery tour. i was in 5th grade...it was awesome. (yes, i was with irresponsible adults)

balonya 03-23-08 03:36 PM

some one stole my bike but I saw him riding it and got it back! the dumb ass actually left the u- lock on it.... to make it worse the guy who stole it was actually a person who was in a documentary I made a bout day labors and I have him saying "I just want an honest job....I don't want to steal or break into cars" and then the A$% stole my bike! ..... this same bike got stolen again about a 16 months latter. no luck getting it back this time!

sfcrossrider 03-23-08 03:36 PM

first off: I dont care to argue with you on the lack of merit held by Iron Maiden.
second off: why would you want a tee shirt from that tour if you didnt go?
Third off: see my response to first off
fourth off: I told you, its what you get for a) buying an Iron maiden tee, b) buying a tour shirt from a tour you didnt go to c) liking Iron Maiden. Still your fault.
