Anyone else have shipping problems with bikesdirect.com

Anyone else have shipping problems with bikesdirect.com

i am most likely just impatient,
but i ordered a bike on 4/24. i got an e-mail saying it should arrive on 4/30/08
but every time i check the UPS tracking, it says


"Tracking Detail | Help

Billing information has been sent to UPS. Check site later for updated shipment status or contact shipper for more details. "



this is 7 days after it says it was billed/shipped.
I've e-mailed them back, and i am waiting for a reply.

Am i just impatient, and the bike will come eventually?
or is this somewhat shocking, from bikesdirect?
i've never ordered from them before.

My physics teacher just ordered a bike from them and they are having an error with their system. some thing like the arrival date is the ship date or they are way behind. At least that is what he told me. He got his bike a week after the projected arrival date.

I have had packages arrive despite the tracking page never having more info than that on it which must be a UPS tracker update issue...

actually this happened to me too. i ordered on the same day as you and all it says is billing information has been received. i live in berkeley, so i dont know how long it would take for you to get your bike. you live in moraga ca?

I ordered a bike a few months ago and it took little over a week, but then my friend ordered a bike last monday and it arrived thursday...

I've had this problem often. Or it will not show up for a week and then I'll log in and it will tell me that they attempted delivery but I was not home. I blame the discovery channel and retirement for taking Lance from the USPS team. I know he would have personally ridden my bike to my front door, checked my saddle height, and taught me how to pick up aging rockers and anorexic twin TV stars.

Shipping for me is never an issue from BikeIsland or BikesDirect.

I only live a few hundred miles away so it's always like free 2nd day shipping. Pretty sweeeet.

I didn't have any problems with the shipping time from BikesDirect, but I ordered a green Kilo TT and they sent me a black one.

Someone had written GREEN right next to the label on the box which says it's a black bike. Makes you wonder about some people.

Then they said that if I wanted the color I ordered that I'd have to pay the return shipping for their mistake. I said **** that and kept the black.

I'm sure most transactions go fine, but I doubt I'd order from them again.

wow, dude, that really sucks. Did you try to see if you could talk to someone else on the subject? Maybe Mike? That seems pretty ****ty.

Nah, I didn't want to deal with it. It'd probably take a month to get a new ride if I did send it back. As it is, I got a working bike, and I'm going to powder coat the frame a different color anyway.

I just find the whole thing funny since the box clearly says it's a black bike and they still ****ed up the order somehow.

Did you buy a 'pre-book' -- some of the bikes we sell on on pre-book [especially SS/FG]
and the system send the ups info as soon as we generate it
but the bike does not go until we get it in
that would be clearly stated on the listing of the bike

Bike is sold out - Black and Green ship in June; Purple in August - many are pre-buying and will get ups number when we run order; but does not go active until we ship

One bike {FANTOM TEAM} always sells out before we even unload it. And we keep increasing orders but can never catch up.

Same thing happened to me the first time I ordered from them. I had to call and they kept trying to say that they sent it. I waited and waited for like 2 weeks. Called back again. They said they sent it. Got frustrated and called again days later to pester them so more. A few days later it showed up and the receipt showed that they had only recently sent it. I suspected that when I ordered it, they weren't being totally truthful and didn't have it in stock, though I have no way to prove that. Anyway, I spend a few more bucks to shop elsewhere and save myself the hassle.

I ordered a Messenger last Wednesday (04/23) and received it last Friday (04/25). The only problem was that I ordered orange, but found a blue frame when I opened the box, even though all the labels said orange. I am kind of disappointed about not having the orange one, but the blue looks nice and, like sake bomb, I didn't feel like dealing with sending it back; I just wanted to get it all together and ride since I haven't had a fixed bike for several months. I emailed Bikesdirect and they gave me a $40 refund for the mix up. I also had no problems with the shipping the last time I ordered from them (2006). It wasn't as quick because it was right before Christmas, but it was reasonably quick, considering the holidays.

my friend ordered a windsor hour about a month ago and it still hasn't shipped. he emailed them and they said that it'd be sent out when they get the new shipments in. does anyone know when they'll get in?

Hours unloaded Friday
and started shipping then

We may actually have to stop pre-books ass it is confusing for customers and us; plus lately factories and customs have both been slow; so it is harder to predict exact unloading dates.

yeah, i do.

I just checked the UPS site today, and the bike is in transit, Somewhere in texas. The site has been extremely quick to respond with e-mails, and their price was awesome. Free Shipping, for me, so i couldn't expect to have it delievered in 5 days, that's unfair. This is definitely not my last order from them, they have been pretty awesome!
