Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

You can upgrade your front rim to one with a properly machined sidewall.

I asked. That wasn't an option offered by the seller. It stops fine - and the brake will machine it for me.

In that case, I suggest you get some brake pads.

If you are finally happy then thats cool. Forget the muppets on here trying to argue for no reason about this or that. I get what you mean. Your bike looks good.

I like the Raleighs.

I guess if it were mine - I would not have gone with Wienmanns, I've heard they are pretty low quality (however, they're hella cheap, and if you thrash them in a year, who cares).

LOVE the saddle.

I'd probably take the RALEIGH decals off of the downtube, because I think it looks bad and because stacked type is the devil. I'm surprised Raleigh did that because they usually have tasteful decals.

The idea of flat/risers on a road bike seems weird to me, but I've never tried it either.

Time to ride the heck out of it.

Funnily enough, I was expecting to see something a little more spectacular after reading the thread title. The 'post your ride' thread is that way, holmes. You deserve everything you get in here ;)

The Wienmanns are tough. I hop curbs, ride rought roads and dirt trails. They get beat on.
The stickers are under the clear coat on the 07's
I need risers to bring my hands up to where I like to have them when I ride (that's what they are for). I'm not hunched over, but I'm not totally upright either. I'm in a good position in traffic and I can get aero with I need to dig in. I didnt want a stem with a positive angle. If I find a fork with a longer steerer, I'll go back to flats.

quite often, actually
my point was, if you dig your ride, cool, there is nothing wrong with it.
but to start a thread on an internet forum,
about your off the shelf fixie, upgraded with some okay parts
describing it as nothing left to upgrade, you are inviting the responses
you are getting.

It's a great looking bike. I especially like the saddle (I have the same Brooks Swallow in honey color) and the seat post. The cranks are nice. Enjoy, man!
